Employees benefit from working in a well-structured organization that values honesty, continuous improvement, and a passion to serve others.
This job opportunity is for a Kitchen Assistant role focused on preparing breakfast and/or lunch offerings alongside assisting with serving lines and occasional catering. The position is dynamic, requiring the employee to perform all kitchen functions, contributing to the smooth and efficient operation of food service delivery. The role demands hands-on involvement in food prep, kitchen maintenance, inventory management, and customer service tasks. Flexibility is a key component as the Kitchen Assistant will rotate through various responsibilities including operating kitchen equipment, organizing stock, and ensuring food safety standards are rigorously met.
The Kitchen Assistant plays a critical role in maintaining the high standards Opaa! is known for, ensuring all food items comply with menu plans and established recipes while meeting health and safety regulations. The role requires vigilance in temperature control, accurate record keeping, and adherence to procedures such as First In/First Out (FIFO) and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) standards. The successful candidate will also engage in serving line setup, food presentation, and customer interaction, promoting a hospitable dining environment.
In addition to food preparation and service, the Kitchen Assistant will handle administrative duties including managing cash registers during service, maintaining tray counts, submitting work hours on time, and notifying supervisors about attendance issues. This multifaceted role demands physical stamina as it involves standing, walking, lifting up to 25 pounds frequently, and operating various kitchen tools. The employee will work under varying environmental conditions, including exposure to heat, humidity, and potential chemical substances common in food service areas.
The ideal candidate is someone with a high school diploma or GED, or equivalent experience, who possesses basic math, reading, and communication skills. Familiarity with food service equipment and software is beneficial, and the ability to follow detailed instructions and safety procedures is essential. Opaa! Food Management offers competitive pay rates dependent on location and position, which will be discussed in detail by a Hiring Manager upon application. This role is an excellent opportunity for individuals eager to grow in the foodservice industry within a supportive and well-established company that prioritizes employee development and operational excellence.
