Job Description

The hiring company is a vibrant and fast-paced restaurant that values quality, efficiency, and teamwork in their kitchen operations. They are known for their commitment to providing high-quality food and a positive dining experience for their customers. The company offers competitive pay ranging from $22 to $26 per hour plus tips, making it a rewarding opportunity for skilled kitchen professionals. Employees benefit from a suite of attractive perks including flexible scheduling, shift meals, team member discounts, health benefits for eligible employees, a 401(k) plan with company match after one year of service, quarterly performance bonuses, and annual anniversary bonus opportunities. Furthermore, the company places a strong emphasis on growth and advancement, encouraging career development within the organization. Benefits, bonuses, and reimbursement programs are available to eligible employees and are subject to applicable waiting periods, plan terms, and company policies.

The Kitchen Specialist role is ideal for individuals who have accumulated experience in kitchen operations and possess a keen ability to multi-task and assess quality with a critical eye. This position holds more responsibility than entry-level kitchen roles, including duties such as cutting and sorting pizzas and prepping fresh ingredients every morning. As a Kitchen Specialist, the individual can take charge when necessary, facilitate instructions throughout the kitchen, and is capable of working and training every station within the kitchen. This role requires someone who is quick, intuitive, and organized to maintain kitchen standards of quality and efficiency.

The Kitchen Specialist serves as both a leader and a team player within the kitchen environment. The specialist may act as a "painter," providing direction at the start of the make line, or a "cutter," inspecting all pizzas before they are boxed, thus ensuring consistent food quality. They are responsible for keeping team members on task, offering training where needed, maintaining kitchen equipment, and communicating effectively between front- and back-of-house teams. In addition, they partake in food inventory management, communication of discipline measures to management, and help reduce labor costs by scheduling and breaking shifts appropriately.

This role demands high energy, stamina, organizational skills, and the ability to remain calm and professional even in high-stress situations. The Kitchen Specialist also helps identify and resolve issues raised from negative customer feedback by implementing appropriate solutions or additional training. They are crucial to maintaining a positive, efficient kitchen environment by ensuring fresh vegetables are stocked, equipment is functioning properly to avoid foodborne illnesses, and employees remain focused and productive. The role requires standing for the entire shift, frequent lifting and carrying of items up to 75 pounds, and exposure to a kitchen environment including heat, steam, and sharp objects.

Overall, this position offers a blend of leadership, culinary skill, and teamwork, providing an excellent opportunity for motivated kitchen professionals to grow their careers in a supportive and dynamic environment.
