Job Description
The French Laundry, a celebrated dining destination in Yountville, led by Chef Thomas Keller, is seeking passionate individuals for the role of Kitchen Server. Established in 1994, this esteemed three-starred Michelin restaurant is recognized worldwide as one of the finest dining experiences. The French Laundry is renowned for its unique, daily changing tasting menu that highlights seasonal ingredients. Many of these ingredients are thoughtfully sourced from the restaurant's own culinary garden, emphasizing freshness and sustainability. The cuisine here is crafted with meticulous French techniques, reflecting both innovation and tradition.
The French Laundry is more than just a restaurant; it represents a legacy of culinary excellence and hospitality innovation. As part of Chef Keller's team, you would join a dedicated group of hospitality professionals who aim to set new benchmarks in service standards. The culture at The French Laundry is deeply rooted in mentorship and continuous learning, providing team members with robust opportunities to grow and refine their skills.
The Kitchen Server role is integral to the seamless delivery of this exceptional dining experience. It requires enthusiasm for food, beverage, and hospitality excellence, with candidates expected to have a minimum of three years’ experience in a similar fine dining environment. This position embodies the commitment to both guest satisfaction and the collaborative spirit that defines Chef Keller’s restaurants.
Joining The French Laundry also means becoming part of the broader Thomas Keller Restaurant Group (TKRG), which encompasses more than ten properties and employs over 800 dedicated staff members. TKRG includes notable establishments such as Per Se, The Surf Club Restaurant, Bouchon Bistro, Bouchon Bakery, Ad Hoc, and RO Restaurant & Lounge. Across these properties, the shared values of culinary mastery, impeccable service, and enriching employment experiences are upheld with unwavering consistency.
Working at The French Laundry means contributing to a mission articulated beautifully by Chef Thomas Keller: 'To make people happy, one guest at a time.' This commitment to joy and excellence resonates in every aspect of the restaurant’s operation, from the kitchen to the dining room. Employees share a sense of pride in delivering singularly memorable dining experiences, supported by a culture that values generosity, care, and refinement.
The role offers numerous benefits that underscore the company’s dedication to its team members. Among these are opportunities for professional growth and advancement within the TKRG family, a 401K plan with no waiting period and a potential employer match of up to 4.0% of earnings. Comprehensive health insurance options are complemented by employer contributions towards premiums. In addition, employees can access voluntary insurance plans covering vision, life and AD&D, accident, hospitalization, critical illness, pet insurance, and long-term disability. The company also offers daily family meals, scholarship programs, a peer mentorship network, and discounts on gym memberships and at other Chef Keller properties.
The French Laundry is committed to fostering an inclusive and diverse workplace. It is an Equal Opportunity Employer that ensures non-discriminatory hiring practices, welcoming applicants regardless of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, veteran status, or other legally protected characteristics. Working here means being part of a respected and dynamic hospitality community dedicated not only to culinary excellence but also to the wellbeing and development of its employees.
