The role of Kitchen Production Manager at IKEA’s Costa Mesa location is a full-time permanent position within the Food & Restaurant department. This role is vital in maintaining the high standards of quality and safety that IKEA is known for while delivering on the company’s promise to offer honest, healthy, and delicious food that complements the shopping experience. In this role, the Kitchen Production Manager takes ownership of maintaining quality standards in the customer and co-worker restaurants and bistro, ensuring that global and national compliance standards are consistently implemented. Managing the food supply chain and range competence within the store are crucial responsibilities aimed at supporting the commercial goals of the IKEA food concept. The manager oversees the food production team, ensuring smooth operations through effective routines in goods flow, inventory management, purchasing, ordering, waste management, and invoicing.

The Manager also plays a key role in upholding equipment maintenance routines and ensuring all food operations comply with IKEA’s Quality and Food Safety requirements alongside local legislation. Proper reporting of any food incidents or potential issues is another critical aspect of the job. The position involves careful planning and maintenance of sales forecasts to enable efficient supply planning and inventory control. Additionally, the role includes building competence within the IKEA Food Commercial team and cultivating an inclusive, supportive work culture that reflects IKEA’s values.

Working 40 hours per week, including three full weekends each month, the Kitchen Production Manager will enjoy a competitive salary range from $78,946 to $94,646, commensurate with relevant work experience. Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in hospitality, food service management, or related field
  • Minimum 5 years of experience managing high-volume food service operations
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate teams
  • Strong understanding of food safety regulations including HACCP
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends

Job Qualifications

  • 5 years of experience in leading multi-unit high-volume food service operations in either Quick Service Restaurant or casual dining
  • Ability to deliver strong business results through people
  • Experience in a customer facing environment
  • Advanced knowledge of HACCP plans and food quality and safety systems

Job Duties

  • Ensure IKEA Food Operating and Brand Standards are consistently met to support brand consistency
  • Support the implementation of the IKEA Food Concept and develop action plans for IKEA Food to support commercial goals including sales, productivity, performance analysis and problem resolution, food and operational cost control, merchandising and maintenance of the IKEA Food Sales Areas
  • Oversee the IKEA Food Production team, ensuring efficient execution of routines including goods flow, inventory management, purchasing, ordering, waste management and invoicing
  • Establish and monitor routines for equipment maintenance in the Restaurant and Bistro production and serving areas
  • Ensure that the operations of all IKEA Food areas in the IKEA Store operate in accordance with IKEA Quality and Food Safety requirements and other local legislation
  • Ensure that all food incidents, or potential incidents, are reported
  • Plan and maintain sales forecasts for the customer and co-worker restaurants and bistro to enable proper supply planning, ordering, efficient goods handling and inventory management
  • Build competence in IKEA Food Commercial team to secure ongoing development within IKEA Food and the IKEA Retail Store
  • Contribute to an environment where the IKEA culture is a strong and living reality that embraces the diversity of co-workers and customers
