Job Description
Food Bank for Larimer County is a vital community organization dedicated to combating hunger and food insecurity in the Larimer County area. This non-profit establishment operates a range of programs that support children, seniors, and families in need by ensuring access to nutritious meals. Recognized for its dedication to changing lives through food, the Food Bank for Larimer County not only provides emergency food assistance but also prepares over 300,000 meals annually through its Nutritious Kitchen, serving diverse demographic groups and federal nutrition programs. The organization prides itself on fostering a collaborative environment where volunteers, staff, and community members work together to address food insecurity with compassion and efficiency. Offering full-time employment with a competitive hourly wage starting at $21.00, plus a $1.00 hourly bilingual differential and excellent benefits, this position provides an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to community wellbeing while developing valuable skills in food service and volunteer management.
The Kitchen Production Coordinator role at the Food Bank for Larimer County is pivotal in ensuring the successful day-to-day operation of the Nutritious Kitchen. This position is responsible for overseeing the preparation, cooking, portioning, packaging, and cleaning activities that result in the production of more than 300,000 meals every year. These meals are carefully crafted to meet federal nutrition program standards including those for the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP), Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP), and VOA Senior Nutrition. The Coordinator works closely with the Community Nutrition Manager and the Kitchen Inventory & Compliance Coordinator to maintain high standards of food safety, kitchen organization, and operational efficiency.
Beyond the technical aspects, this role demands strong leadership and interpersonal skills as the Kitchen Production Coordinator leads a team of kitchen volunteers, providing training, guidance, and motivation through busy production shifts. The Coordinator is integral in creating a safe, positive, and mission-focused environment where volunteers feel valued and effective. Responsibilities include greeting and orienting volunteers, coordinating production workflows, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, and stepping in to perform any task necessary to meet production goals. The position also involves active participation in production planning, inventory management, and continuous process improvement through feedback and documentation.
Working as the Kitchen Production Coordinator offers the opportunity to have a direct impact on the lives of individuals in the Larimer County community by ensuring the delivery of nutritious meals to those most vulnerable. This hands-on, dynamic role is suited to individuals who thrive in a fast-paced, physically demanding kitchen environment and are committed to food safety and social impact. The Food Bank provides a supportive workplace culture along with comprehensive benefits including employer-paid medical, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, a generous health savings account contribution, company matched 401K with immediate vesting, paid vacation, sick time, holidays, and more. This role is ideal for someone who values community service, volunteer coordination, and driving meaningful outcomes through effective kitchen management.
