The Dishwasher/Kitchen Porter role at Summit Hospitality Group is vital to maintaining the cleanliness and smooth operation of kitchen and banquet areas within the hotel property or onsite restaurants. This role specifically entails gathering and washing dishes promptly after banquet or meeting events conclude to ensure that the kitchen workflow remains efficient and that all service areas remain spotless. This position plays a crucial part in supporting the culinary team and helping to deliver an excellent dining experience to guests by maintaining sanitation standards and providing logistical support. This position requires flexibility in work hours, including availability for days, evenings, and weekends, to accommodate the demands of a bustling hospitality environment. Candidates should be able to handle the physical demands of the job which include standing for extended periods, lifting heavy objects up to 50 pounds, and repetitively using their hands for cleaning tasks. A high school diploma or GED equivalent is required, and previous experience working in a hotel or restaurant setting with major hospitality brands such as Marriott, Hilton, or Hyatt is preferred. Exceptional people skills and professional communication abilities, including English proficiency, are essential to succeed in this role.

In this role, the Dishwasher/Kitchen Porter is responsible for cleaning a variety of kitchen tools such as pans, pots, dishes, silverware, and glasses. They will sort, scrape, stack, wash using commercial dishwasher machines, and ensure all items are properly replaced in designated areas for immediate reuse. Additional duties include transferring equipment from storage to work stations, cleaning floors, kitchen equipment, countertops, and walls, as well as assisting with stock supply of food and supporting the cooking staff when necessary. All tasks must be performed with attention to health and safety regulations to uphold the company’s standards.

Job Duties

  • Clean pans, pots, dishes, silverware, glasses, and other elements of service used in the kitchen or restaurant
  • scrape, sort, stack dirty dishes, load them into the dishwashing machine and add soap according to directions and turn it on for cleaning
  • once the cleaning operation is complete, unload the dishes and put them in their designated places for reuse
  • transfer equipment from storage areas to work stations
  • clean floors, equipment, countertops, and walls
  • stock supply of food and help cooking staff if requested
  • follow all health and safety practices at all times
  • maintain a proper appearance
  • work well with other associates in a fast-paced environment
