This position is based at St. Luke's Hospital in New Bedford, MA, and involves working a part-time schedule of 20 hours per week, primarily during the evening and night shifts with weekend and holiday rotations, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The Kitchen Porter plays a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of the food service areas, ensuring a safe and hygienic environment for both staff and patients.

As a Kitchen Porter, you will be responsible for washing and sanitizing pots, pans, and utensils, handling trash disposal, cleaning floors, and performing general sanitation duties within the culinary department. This role reports directly to the Manager of Culinary or Operations Manager of Food & Nutrition Services or their designee. It is essential to uphold the highest standard of cleanliness and follow food safety protocols to support the smooth operation of food services in a healthcare setting. Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • prior experience in a kitchen or food service environment preferred
  • ability to work evening and night shifts including weekends and holidays
  • physically able to perform cleaning tasks
  • comply with vaccination requirements
  • willingness to work part-time and flexible hours

Job Qualifications

  • ability to follow written instructions
  • experience with proper food safety and sanitary procedures preferred
  • must be fully vaccinated against seasonal influenza and COVID-19 or have an approved exemption
