The role available at Edison House is full-time and offers an exciting opportunity for experienced culinary professionals who are passionate about food quality, service, and teamwork. The successful candidate will be involved in various critical kitchen tasks ranging from food preparation to maintaining cleanliness and supporting overall kitchen operations. Professionalism is key; as such, the role requires presenting oneself with a clean uniform and well-groomed appearance while demonstrating strong knowledge of food safety, recipe adherence, and culinary techniques. Candidates must be at least 21 years old. The position demands maintaining proper labeling and dating of products, correct plating, cleaning, prepping, and cooking according to menu specifications. Candidates will prepare dishes from different kitchen stations including grill, sautee, and garde manger, ensuring mise en place and backups are maintained for efficient daily operations. Attention to detail is essential, with constant taste testing to verify flavors, textures, and consistency. Creativity and judgment in food utilization are encouraged, reflecting Edison House's commitment to high food standards. Collaboration is vital, as the role requires working harmoniously with banquet and prep cooks as well as kitchen stewards. The ideal candidate will bring a minimum of three years of experience in fine dining and will be adaptable to varied schedules including days, nights, weekends, and holidays. Skills such as problem-solving, organization, and the ability to work effectively under pressure are valued, alongside a commitment to cleanliness, quality service, and food safety certifications such as having an up-to-date Food Handlers permit. The position offers multiple shifts including morning, day, and evening opportunities. Job Requirements

  • Must be able to work a varied schedule of days, nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to accurately read and communicate duties amongst team members
  • Basic understanding of professional cooking and knife handling skills
  • Ability to work in a community environment
  • Ability to work calmly, productively, and effectively under pressure
  • Must have problem solving abilities, self-motivated, and organized
  • Commitment to quality service, quality food, and high standards of cleanliness
  • Proper and up to date knowledge to obtain a current Food Handlers permit

Job Duties

  • Presents himself/herself professionally with clean uniform and groomed
  • Maintains knowledge of proper labeling and dating of product
  • Maintains knowledge of proper plating, cleaning, prepping, and cooking of menu items
  • Maintains knowledge of recipes, recipe cards, ingredients, and products
  • Prepares all dishes from grill, saute, garde manger, and special items
  • Required to maintain proper levels of mis en place, and backups to perform daily tasks
  • Required to maintain a clean workstation, perform opening and closing duties, and any other duties designated by the management team or kitchen leader
  • Taste food prepared to verify flavor, consistency, and textures
  • Demonstrate judgement and creativity in food utilization
  • Understand Edison House standards of food quality and recipe taste
  • Collaborates and supports banquet/prep cooks, and stewards
