The Food Service Worker role at Aramark is a vital position within the food service team, tasked with assisting in food preparation, portioning meals, and serving customers with care and efficiency. This role is designed for individuals who are organized, dependable, and possess a positive attitude, ready to support their team and deliver outstanding service. Reporting to a manager, the Food Service Worker will learn on the job and have numerous opportunities to develop skills in food safety, culinary techniques, and customer interaction.

Daily responsibilities include preparing food items according to recipes, managing station setups and breakdowns, maintaining accurate portion control, and recording temperature logs to ensure food safety. Additionally, the worker will be responsible for sampling all food items prior to service to maintain quality standards, alerting management of any concerns, and ensuring workstations and utensils are clean and sanitized. Customer engagement is a key part of the role, with duties including greeting customers, handling inquiries or complaints gracefully, and maintaining a welcoming atmosphere.

This position also requires collaboration with other team members to maintain sanitation, assist with catering and special events, and participate in regular safety observations. Flexibility is crucial, as tasks may be assigned or adjusted by managers or supervisors at any time to meet operational needs.

The Food Service Worker role demands physical activity such as lifting, bending, pushing, and standing for extended periods. It also requires the use of personal protective equipment and the ability to work safely around hot equipment, steam, and cleaning chemicals. Job Requirements

  • Completion of high school or equivalent
  • Ability to follow detailed written and verbal instructions
  • Experience in food service preferred
  • Possession of Serve Safe Certification
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Ability to lift and transport hot food items frequently
  • Ability to work under physical demands including standing, bending, pushing, and pulling
  • Willingness to wear uniforms and use personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Ability to maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards
  • Capability to work in a team, take direction, and adapt to changing job duties

Job Duties

  • Lead all aspects of and assist in preparation of food items for the day and dating products
  • Coordinate and assist in setting up and breaking down stations designated by the manager
  • Cook and otherwise prepare foods according to recipes and directions
  • Responsible for use of accurate portions when preparing and serving items on the line
  • Maintain daily temperature logs
  • Responsible for taking samples of all food items on the line prior to serving the customers
  • Alert management and pull food items that do not meet quality expectations
  • Complete opening and closing station checklists
  • Greet customers as they approach and leave the serving line
  • Ask customers about the quality of their service and handle any complaints while maintaining a positive attitude and smile
  • Coordinate and assist in maintaining a clean work station including floors, work areas, equipment, walls, refrigerators, and meat blocks
  • Ensures that all work areas and serving utensils are cleaned and sanitized
  • Responsible for accurate disposal of waste from the service line
  • Transfers supplies and equipment between storage and work areas by hand or by cart
  • Assist with daily safety observations and report safety hazards discovered in the location to management immediately
  • Cross-train in areas as the need arises
  • Able to work in concessions, catering, and special events required by your manager
  • Perform task as requested by your manager on a weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly basis
  • Completion of any task requested by a supervisor or member of the Aramark management team
  • Lead all aspects of and advise the employees working on the line to ensure timely and effective service of the customers
  • Request support from utility workers for sanitation issues of the line as needed
