The Highlands at Brighton is currently seeking a full-time Kitchen Manager to join their Food and Nutrition department. This role is pivotal in ensuring the efficient coordination and oversight of the department's work activities, with direct responsibility for supervising employees and managing the quality and safety standards essential in a healthcare dining environment. The Kitchen Manager will be scheduled Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with an hourly pay rate ranging from $20 to $28, reflecting the importance of this leadership position within the organization.

The Kitchen Manager’s responsibilities include coordinating day-to-day operational functions, ensuring the timely assembly and distribution of meals, nourishments, and supplies to residents. The role requires hands-on management of department employees, including orientation and training, schedule development, and handling scheduling requests to maintain smooth workflow. A key component of the job involves upholding standards of sanitation, safety, and security according to state and federal regulatory requirements, which includes tasks such as auditing and recording refrigeration and freezer temperatures daily.

  • Minimum of two years of experience in a supervisory capacity in a restaurant or large food service operation required

Job Duties

  • Coordinate operational functions within the Food and Nutrition Department for the assembly and distribution of resident meals, nourishments and supplies
  • Oversee department employees and monitor work activities
  • Orient and train new employees of the food and nutrition department
  • Manage schedules and scheduling requests
  • Oversee standards of sanitation, safety and security to include daily cleaning of work area and proper usage and upkeep of equipment, in accordance to the guidelines established by all state and federal regulatory agencies
  • Audit and record refrigeration/freezer temperatures
  • Participate in the production of facility catering events
