The Nutrition Group is a well-established full-service food and facilities management company founded in 1975. Over the decades, the company has grown to become a trusted leader specializing in diverse sectors such as K-12 meal services, commissary operations, custodial and maintenance management, business and industry services, and consulting. Headquartered in the United States with operations across Florida, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan, South Carolina, and Virginia, The Nutrition Group prides itself on fostering long-term relationships with clients, customers, employees, and vendors. Recognized for its people-oriented approach, the company integrates quality service with community-focused values to meet the dynamic needs of the clients it serves.
The Nutrition Group has an open position for a Kitchen Manager specifically dedicated to School Food Service. This full-time role is designed around regular daytime working hours without evening, weekend, or holiday shifts, offering a healthy work-life balance. The Kitchen Manager will be responsible for overseeing food production and staff training within a large K-12 school cafeteria setting. This position requires in-depth knowledge of large-scale food preparation, program compliance, and operational management within a school environment. The Kitchen Manager will be integral to ensuring that meal services meet the standards of the National School Breakfast and Lunch Programs, both critical components of the USDA's child nutrition initiatives.
Key responsibilities include managing extensive food preparation processes, utilizing kitchen equipment efficiently, and maintaining accurate production records and documentation. The Kitchen Manager will work closely with regional chefs to develop and implement recipes that adhere to company food concepts and meet nutritional guidelines. They will also facilitate the execution of catered events as necessary, ensuring high-quality food service delivery. Additionally, a significant part of the role involves training school cafeteria workers in food production techniques, recipe utilization, and kitchen equipment functions to maintain company standards consistently.
Candidates for this role should bring at least 1-2 years of staff management experience along with a strong background in food service. Proficiency in recipe reading, basic math conversions, and Microsoft Office programs is essential. The role requires excellent interpersonal and communication skills, a valid driver's license, and the ability to secure mandated clearances and pass criminal background checks. The Nutrition Group supports diversity and inclusion in its hiring practices and offers a supportive work environment with competitive benefits including paid time off and a 401(k) plan. This is an exceptional opportunity for individuals passionate about food service management in educational settings who want to contribute to the well-being and nutrition of school-aged children while advancing their career in a reputable organization.
