This job opening is for a Kitchen Manager role located at the Residential Treatment Facility at 17645 NW St. Helens Highway, Portland, OR. This is a full-time, in-person salaried position with working hours Monday through Friday, from 5:00 am to 1:30 pm, with flexibility as needed to meet program demands. The compensation range for this exempt position is between $58,968 and $76,440 annually.

In this critical leadership role, the Kitchen Manager oversees kitchen operations within a residential treatment environment. The position requires adherence to Indian Health Services, Multnomah County, and State of Oregon standards and guidelines for food service. The manager will supervise all kitchen staff, coordinate with the Food Services Director on menu planning, and ensure meal preparation meets nutritional and safety standards. Additionally, maintaining cleanliness, inventory management, and ensuring effective meal service to clients are key responsibilities. This role demands strong organizational, communication, and supervisory skills to sustain a safe, efficient, and compliant kitchen operation. The Kitchen Manager’s work directly supports the wellbeing of residents by providing nutritious food in a safe and respectful setting, thereby contributing to the overall mission of NARA NW to support healthier, fulfilling lives for Native American and Alaska Native individuals and others in need.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED certification
  • Experience cooking for residential treatment facility, school or hospital
  • Five years of kitchen management experience
  • Knowledge of meal preparation and menu planning
  • Ability to stand on feet for long periods
  • Must be able to lift to a minimum of 50 lbs
  • Must have current Food Handler's Card
  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries with clients and staff
  • Must have valid driver's license, clean driving record, and be insurable
  • Must pass pre-employment or for cause drug tests
  • Must pass criminal background and DMV checks
