The role of Kitchen Manager in Training at Parker's Kitchen is a unique and rewarding opportunity designed for individuals aspiring to advance their careers in kitchen management. This position provides hands-on experience in overseeing daily kitchen operations while working closely with the existing Kitchen Manager. As a Kitchen Manager in Training, you will play an integral role in ensuring the efficient running of kitchen processes, contributing to inventory management, labor cost control, and food safety compliance. Your leadership skills will be honed through direct interaction with team members and customers alike, helping create a positive and productive work environment.
In this role, you will primarily be assigned to a specific Parker's Kitchen location but will also have the chance to cover for Kitchen Managers at other sites as needed. This exposure enables you to build a well-rounded skill set, preparing you for a future promotion to Kitchen Manager. Responsibilities will include assisting with scheduling, monitoring inventory levels, maintaining food safety standards, and supporting employee development. The position demands a strong sense of integrity, excellent communication skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
A key part of the job involves engaging with customers and employees in a respectful and courteous manner, embodying Parker's Kitchen's core values and fostering a friendly atmosphere. You will also assist in enforcing safety and health policies to maintain compliance with regulatory standards while ensuring the kitchen operates within budget constraints. Food handling protocols and stock management are essential duties, guaranteeing that made-to-order meals meet customer specifications and that all food and beverage areas remain well stocked.
Applicants for this role should have at least two years of management experience in food service operations or demonstrated experience within Parker's Kitchen. The position requires individuals to be at least 16 years of age, possess reliable transportation, and be willing to work varied hours and shifts to meet business needs. Completion of food safety certification and a skills-based certification within specified time frames is mandatory.
Physical demands of the job include the ability to stand for extended periods, multitask effectively, handle repetitive motions, and occasionally lift or move items weighing up to 50 pounds. The work environment may include variable temperatures, wet floors, and loud noise levels, requiring resilience and adaptability.
