The Kitchen Manager position at Chaparral High School within DCSD plays a critical leadership role centered on the overall management of the school kitchen operations. This role involves comprehensive responsibility over food preparation, service quality, and the supervision of kitchen personnel to ensure smooth and efficient daily operations. The Kitchen Manager will be tasked with maintaining strict compliance with health, safety, and regulatory guidelines, including USDA standards, contributing to a safe and clean working environment. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- ServSafe Manager Certification within 6 months of hire
- Ability to stand, reach, lift items weighing up to 40 lbs frequently
- Ability to perform repetitive motions such as typing and chopping
- Effective communication skills in English
- Ability to work cooperatively with a diverse group of people
- Availability to work 40 hours per week, 172 days per year
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deliver timely results
- Must comply with Health and Safety regulations
- Must complete USDA Mandatory Professional Standards training annually
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent

Job Duties
- Perform other related duties as assigned or requested
- Maintain food costs to a Profit and Loss ratio to meet business requirements
- Responsible for Production Management and daily Production Reports to ensure regulatory compliance, correct serving size, minimal waste, and theft control
- Train and develop kitchen staff, create and update training materials, deliver safety and HACCP training
- Manage and train up to 6 kitchen assistants and ensure growth and cross-training opportunities
- Manage all aspects of franchises or outside vendors at site
- Maintain meals per labor hour to a Profit and Loss ratio
- Oversee sanitation and cleaning of all kitchen facilities and equipment
- Approve and ensure accurate payroll and employee time off
- Complete USDA Professional Standards training and ensure staff compliance
- Build positive relationships with the community, staff, students, and parents
- Maintain food inventory and ordering
- Manage kitchen financial records and regulatory compliance
- Handle employee issues with discretion and manage performance
- Communicate district updates timely to kitchen staff
