The hiring establishment is a school food service organization dedicated to providing nutritious and safe meals to student populations across various school sites. As a crucial part of the educational support system, this organization emphasizes quality food service management while adhering to all health, safety, and regulatory standards set forth by federal, state, and company guidelines. Committed to fostering a positive dining environment, the organization seeks to employ dedicated professionals who value teamwork, adaptability, and leadership in dynamic settings. Given the nature of school food services, this organization prioritizes compliance with programs such as ServSafe, HACCP, and child nutrition program regulations, ensuring that every meal served contributes to the well-being of students and staff alike.
The role of Kitchen Manager Floater is designed for experienced kitchen management professionals who excel in flexible, fast-paced environments. In this role, the manager will provide essential leadership across multiple school cafeterias by stepping in wherever coverage is necessary. The primary focus is to lead daily food service operations by managing teams, overseeing food preparation and safety, handling inventory, and ensuring compliance with all relevant guidelines. As a floater, this position requires traveling between different school sites daily, adapting quickly to new kitchens, and leading diverse teams under varying conditions. Successful candidates thrive on challenges, exhibit strong organizational skills, and possess the confidence to uphold high standards even in unfamiliar settings.
This full-time position operates Monday through Friday with occasional extended weeks depending on school calendars and events. The role requires the ability to manage operational logistics efficiently, including supervising staff, training on sanitation and safety procedures, monitoring food production, maintaining cleanliness, and enforcing proper food handling. In addition, the kitchen manager floater will oversee inventory management, labor scheduling, and cost control efforts, ensuring smooth daily operations at all assigned locations.
The position also involves administrative responsibilities such as completing accurate documentation, maintaining temperature logs, and submitting timely reports related to service quality and compliance. Effective communication skills are essential, as the manager will act as a primary point of contact during float assignments, fostering a positive culture between school food service teams. Physical demands of this role include the ability to stand for entire shifts, lift up to 50 pounds, and work in moderately noisy kitchen environments. Reliable transportation is required to facilitate timely travel between school sites.
Overall, the Kitchen Manager Floater's role is vital in maintaining consistent food service excellence across multiple locations, supporting teams through hands-on leadership, and ensuring that nutrition programs meet established standards for quality and safety. This position offers a compelling opportunity for skilled kitchen managers seeking a dynamic, varied work environment with meaningful impact on student nutrition and wellness.
