The role of Kitchen Manager at Atwater's is a pivotal position responsible for overseeing all functions related to food preparation and kitchen operations across multiple meal services including soup, sandwiches, salads, breakfast, lunch, and dinner. This full-time, in-person position requires a proactive leader who values teamwork and possesses a strong sense of accountability to maintain a positive working environment and excellent customer service. The Kitchen Manager will play a crucial role in managing food inventory, ensuring order accuracy, maintaining sanitation and safety standards, and supporting the culinary team through training and menu development. Reporting directly to the General Manager, the Kitchen Manager also helps drive the business's strategic goals by managing staffing, enforcing company policies, and cultivating a productive and motivated kitchen staff.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3+ years of restaurant management experience preferred
  • Ability to follow complex instructions and procedures
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong passion for food and culinary knowledge
  • Possess or have the ability to acquire ServSafe certificate
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Ability to bend and lift loads up to 50 pounds

Job Qualifications

  • Ability to follow complex instructions and procedures
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong passion for food and broad culinary knowledge
  • Possess or ability to acquire ServSafe certificate
  • Over 3 years of restaurant management experience preferred

Job Duties

  • Ensure the accuracy of all customer orders
  • Oversee the prep of ingredients and cooking elements across soup, sandwich/salad, breakfast, and dinner stations
  • Check inventory for food, merchandise, and supplies and oversee ordering
  • Manage menu planning and food cost analysis
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of workstations and equipment
  • Comply with health, sanitation, and safety procedures
  • Participate in menu development and train staff on new items
  • Run Back of House loops and maintain communication with General Manager
  • Lead and motivate the kitchen team to meet sales and productivity goals
  • Enforce store policies and procedures
  • Attend and actively participate in meetings and loops
  • Delegate tasks clearly and effectively
  • Manage daily staffing and coverage for call-outs
  • Handle disciplinary actions and document accordingly
  • Welcome customers and promote positive relations
  • Educate customers and staff on food and product knowledge
  • Remain solution-oriented in a fast-paced environment
  • Follow up constructively on customer complaints and suggestions
