The Kitchen Manager plays a pivotal role within our culinary team, spearheading food production efforts for both banquet functions and regular dining services. This full-time position commands a blend of leadership, culinary expertise, and operational oversight to guarantee superior food quality, safety, and efficiency. Reporting directly to the Executive Chef, the Kitchen Manager supervises daily kitchen activities, manages food costs, and supports menu development. The role also involves assisting with hiring, training, and mentoring kitchen staff, fostering a team-oriented culture that emphasizes urgency, accuracy, and member satisfaction.

As a Kitchen Manager, you will ensure the highest standards of food preparation and plate presentation for all service formats. Your responsibilities will include managing banquet and holiday buffet productions, controlling food costs, and participating actively in banquet function committees. Safety and sanitation are paramount, as you maintain a clean, organized, and compliant kitchen environment. Ideal candidates will possess a culinary degree or ACF equivalent and have prior experience in upscale kitchen operations, preferably within a country club or similar setting. Certification in Serve Safe and a strong knowledge of food sanitation practices are essential. Your ability to communicate effectively in English and your attention to detail will contribute to your success in this fast-paced, demanding role.

Job Requirements

  • Prior experience as a cook required
  • Culinary degree or ACF equivalent preferred
  • Serve Safe certification required
  • Sound understanding of sanitation practices
  • Able to understand and communicate in English
  • Able to communicate effectively to team members and managers
  • Possess a team member spirit and work closely with others
  • Have a sense of urgency
  • Strive to exceed member expectations
  • Pays attention to details, anticipates needs, be consistent in delivering superior experiences and have caring and respect for all
  • Able to do simple arithmetic
  • Experience working in a country club environment preferred
  • Two years prior restaurant experience required
  • Understanding of how kitchen equipment operates

Job Duties

  • Manages food production for banquet functions including menu planning and personnel supervision
  • Manages food production for holiday buffets, Sunday brunch and other special occasions including menu development, costing and execution
  • Assists with production of daily specials for restaurants when requested
  • Assists in the hiring, orientation, training and on-going supervision of all employees involved with banquet food production
  • Establishes and maintains professional standards of conduct and appearance at all times
  • Assists / relieves the Sous Chef whenever reduced banquet volume allows
  • Serves on the banquet function committee to assist in the planning of food-related aspects of each special event
  • Establishes and adheres to food cost goals for banquet functions
  • takes corrective action as necessary to assure that financial goals are attained
  • Performs other special, ad-hoc duties as requested by the Executive Chef
