Job Description
Our company is a dedicated provider of nutritious and delicious school meals, committed to enhancing the health and well-being of students through high-quality food service programs. As a key player in the educational food service sector, we strive to create positive mealtime experiences that support student learning and development across multiple school sites. Our mission revolves around delivering balanced meals that meet stringent nutritional standards while fostering a safe and welcoming cafeteria environment that encourages healthy eating habits from a young age. We take pride in our role as a community partner, supporting schools and families with dependable and engaging food service operations.
The role of Kitchen Manager is critical to our mission, overseeing day-to-day food service operations at a designated school site. This full-time leadership position requires a motivated individual who is passionate about food, efficient organization, and team management. As the Kitchen Manager, you will have the responsibility to lead kitchen staff through daily tasks including food preparation, safety compliance, inventory management, and maintaining a clean and orderly kitchen. You will also serve as the on-site authority ensuring that all federal, state, and company policies regarding food safety and operational procedures are strictly followed.
This position offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact by ensuring that hundreds of students receive quality meals in a safe and friendly atmosphere. The Kitchen Manager plays a vital role in fostering a collaborative kitchen team, training staff on hygiene and food safety practices, and streamlining operations to meet budget and labor guidelines. Additionally, you will engage in administrative tasks such as scheduling, reporting, cash handling, and record keeping, contributing to the overall efficiency and success of the school food service program.
Ideal candidates will bring prior food service experience, preferably within a school nutrition setting, and have proven leadership abilities to manage and inspire a diverse team. Strong communication skills, multitasking capabilities, and a commitment to upholding food safety standards such as HACCP and ServSafe are essential. Physical stamina and comfort working in a busy kitchen environment around children are necessary to thrive in this dynamic role. This position typically operates on a Monday through Friday full-time schedule with occasional extended workweeks, providing a consistent and rewarding career path within the food service industry.
