Job Description
recteq is a vibrant and expanding lifestyle brand rooted in high-quality wood pellet grills that revolutionize outdoor cooking. Founded over a decade ago by lifelong friends Ray Carnes and Ron Cundy, recteq was born from a passion for better eating, spending quality time with loved ones, and enjoying life’s pursuits. The company’s dedication to innovation, quality, and community has propelled it beyond grills to a comprehensive range of outdoor products that enhance the social and culinary experiences around outdoor cooking. recteq’s unique approach combines flavor, convenience, versatility, and a commitment to craftsmanship, securing its place as a trusted leader in the grilling industry and outdoor lifestyle market. The company fosters a dynamic, team-focused culture where employees are valued contributors to a mission larger than just making grills—they create moments that bring people together.
The Part-Time Kitchen Manager / Chef position at recteq is a multifaceted role integral to the smooth operation of the company’s commercial kitchen and culinary initiatives. This part-time opportunity, requiring approximately 25 to 30 hours per week and occasional attendance at events and Academy classes on some Saturdays, is ideal for a culinary professional who thrives in an energetic, versatile environment. Working Monday through Friday with occasional early mornings and late nights during events, this role also includes limited travel to support brand activations and community engagements.
In this position, the Part-Time Kitchen Manager / Chef will oversee daily kitchen operations, ensuring that all food preparation, sanitation, and inventory management are executed to the highest safety and quality standards. They will manage the cleaning schedules and maintain the readiness of all kitchen equipment and spaces, especially in support of large events and Academy classes. The role demands a hands-on approach to building and implementing prep lists tailored to production and filming needs, managing inventory with best practices such as first-in, first-out to minimize waste and guarantee product quality.
Beyond the kitchen, the role extends into event support, assisting with the setup and execution of catering and outdoor cooking events that showcase recteq’s grill fleet and offerings. The candidate will coordinate with internal teams on recipe testing, culinary content creation, and filming preparations, contributing creatively while maintaining organizational excellence. This job offers a unique chance to be involved in a variety of culinary and content-driven projects that are central to recteq’s brand identity and customer engagement.
Candidates should come equipped with proven experience in commercial kitchens, solid knowledge of food safety protocols, and the ability to manage competing priorities efficiently. Physical stamina is important, as the role involves standing for extended periods, frequent lifting of up to 50 pounds, and working in outdoor environments around grills and heat.
Working at recteq means joining a company that prioritizes person-first culture, flexibility, and professional growth within a scaling brand. The company provides opportunities to build skills in culinary operations and event coordination, all within a setting dedicated to creating joyful, communal outdoor cooking experiences. This role will appeal to candidates passionate about food, creativity, and community impact, eager to contribute hands-on to a brand making a meaningful difference in lifestyle and culinary innovation.
