The Kitchen Manager role at Jalapeño Tree is a pivotal position responsible for leading the back-of-house operations with a focus on upholding food quality, cleanliness, team development, and guest satisfaction. This leadership role requires managing all aspects of kitchen operations, including scheduling, inventory control, food and supply ordering, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. The Kitchen Manager also oversees cost of goods management to support restaurant profitability goals.

This position is ideal for someone with at least two years of experience in managing kitchen operations or assisting in a managerial role within a full-service restaurant. The Kitchen Manager acts as a mentor and coach for the kitchen staff, ensuring a high-performing, well-trained team. They play an integral part in maintaining a clean and organized kitchen environment, leveraging restaurant systems such as POS (Aloha), Microsoft Office, and Compeat to streamline operations and lead successful shifts.

All new Kitchen Managers undergo rigorous training at the Jalapeño Tree headquarters in Tyler, TX before transitioning to their assigned restaurant location. This onboarding process equips them with the knowledge and skills necessary to embody the brand’s strong values and operational standards. The role demands strong leadership, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities efficiently under a fast-paced restaurant environment.

Beyond operational expertise, the Kitchen Manager must be committed to maintaining a safe, respectful, and compliant workplace. They are entrusted with delegated responsibilities from the General Manager, including overseeing hiring, terminations, payroll-related changes, assisting with employee discipline and development, and implementing new menus, recipes, and promotional initiatives. Job Requirements

  • must be at least 18 years old

Job Qualifications

  • minimum 2 years of experience as a kitchen manager or successful assistant manager in a full-service restaurant
  • high school diploma or GED preferred
  • knowledge of food and beverage laws and health regulations
  • strong leadership skills
  • excellent coaching and communication abilities
  • proficiency in POS and restaurant systems such as Aloha, Microsoft Office, and Compeat
  • detail-oriented with strong time management and cost control awareness
  • ability to train and develop a high-performing back-of-house team
