Job Description

Rosewood Market + Deli is a beloved neighborhood market located in Columbia, South Carolina, with a rich history stretching back to 1972. As a family-owned and community-rooted establishment, Rosewood Market has earned its reputation as a trusted source for high-quality, thoughtfully sourced organic and natural foods. The market specializes not only in everyday essentials but also in freshly prepared offerings, embracing a farm-to-table philosophy that prioritizes real, wholesome ingredients. The team at Rosewood Market is committed to hospitality, integrity, and doing things the right way, creating a warm and welcoming environment where customers and employees alike feel valued and inspired.

The role of Kitchen Manager at Rosewood Market + Deli is integral to the identity and day-to-day success of the market. The kitchen team is seen as the heart of the market’s operation, producing dishes that reflect the company’s mission and passion for quality food. This full-time position offers a competitive hourly wage ranging from $25.00 to $30.00 based on experience, alongside numerous benefits including paid time off, company vision and dental plans, generous employee discounts, free shift meals, and no overnight shifts. The kitchen closes at 3 PM daily and is closed all day Sundays, allowing for a balanced work schedule with holiday closures and a strong emphasis on team well-being.

As Kitchen Manager, you will be responsible for leading, developing, and inspiring a high-performing kitchen team focused on consistent, top-quality food production and presentation. Your leadership will ensure smooth daily kitchen operations from opening to closing, driving menu planning initiatives that align with the market’s natural, whole-food philosophy. Managing ordering, inventory, and food cost controls will be essential to minimizing waste and maximizing product quality. In addition, maintaining strict food safety and sanitation standards and fostering a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen environment are key parts of this role.

The Kitchen Manager will also be instrumental in training and cross-training team members, setting clear expectations, and holding people accountable with fairness and consistency. Collaborating closely with store leadership—including reporting to the Store Owner and the Rosewood Market Leadership Team—this individual will contribute to the overall success and growth of the market. This position demands a natural leader who communicates clearly, stays calm under pressure, and leads by example to uphold the highest standards within the kitchen.

This opportunity at Rosewood Market is perfect for someone who is passionate about real food and natural ingredients and who thrives in a fast-paced, high-energy work environment. The market values motivated, organized, and detail-oriented professionals who are ready to take initiative and think about the big picture. By joining this team, you will be part of something meaningful—a local, independent market that has been a cherished community institution for over 50 years. This role is not just a job; it’s a chance to make a real difference in the community, be part of a tight-knit team, and have room for growth with many leads and managers having started on the floor. If you hold yourself and your team to a high standard with energy and consistency, Rosewood Market welcomes you to apply and help continue their tradition of excellence and community connection.
