Job Description
Hen House is a distinguished deli and grocery establishment renowned for its commitment to delivering exceptional guest experiences through high-quality products and strong teamwork. Part of the Balls Food Stores family, Hen House blends the stability of a locally owned company with deep community roots, fostering a culture of consistency, dedication, and excellence. Known for its fresh offerings and reliable service, Hen House sustains an environment where customer satisfaction is the cornerstone, making it a preferred destination for grocery shopping and ready-to-eat meals. At Hen House, the philosophy goes beyond just grocery retail; it’s about creating an environment where quality meets community, supported by a team that values integrity and a collaborative spirit.
The Kitchen Manager role at Hen House is integral to maintaining this standard of excellence. This hands-on position requires a skilled professional to oversee daily back-of-house kitchen operations specifically within the deli section. The role emphasizes food quality, efficient workflow management, and team support to ensure that every ready-to-eat offering meets stringent quality standards and guest expectations. The Kitchen Manager will lead by example, fostering a fast-paced, organized kitchen environment that prioritizes food safety, sanitation, and consistent recipe execution.
Responsibilities include supervising food preparation, cooking, and product presentation to maintain timely production of deli items such as sandwiches, salads, hot foods, grab-and-go meals, and catering orders. The ideal candidate will drive efficiency during peak service hours and synergize with department leadership to optimize overall operations. Key tasks include enforcing portion control, reducing food waste, training team members on approved recipes and safety procedures, and maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment. The role demands experience in managing inventory levels, ordering supplies, tracking product usage, and supporting cost control efforts.
Additionally, the Kitchen Manager will collaborate closely with store leadership and other departments to support store-wide goals. This includes upholding company policies related to attendance, conduct, and safety while actively participating in loss prevention efforts. A successful Kitchen Manager will remain hands-on and productive, stepping in to support the team whenever necessary, and contribute to the continuous improvement of menu offerings and operational processes. This position is ideal for a motivated individual who thrives in a dynamic kitchen setting and is passionate about delivering exceptional culinary products and fostering a positive work environment. Employment is full-time with a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays to meet the needs of the business.
