Job Description
Applebee's is a nationwide chain of casual dining restaurants renowned for delivering a welcoming, inclusive, and friendly environment where guests can enjoy classic American dishes with a modern twist. Established over four decades ago, Applebee's has become a staple in neighborhoods across the United States, celebrated not only for its food but also for its culture of hard work and teamwork. The company deeply values the contributions of its employees and strives to maintain a work environment where every team member feels supported and empowered to grow. Applebee's emphasizes a culture driven by its core values: Performance, Respect, Integrity, Development, and Engagement, commonly referred to as PRIDE. These values shape the way they conduct business and interact with both guests and team members alike.
This role focuses on the position of Kitchen Manager, a key leadership role within Applebee's back-of-house operations. As Kitchen Manager, you’ll be responsible for overseeing the kitchen staff and ensuring all kitchen functions run smoothly and efficiently. This role is critical in maintaining the quality standards of food preparation and service while upholding the highest levels of cleanliness and sanitation. The Kitchen Manager will implement purchasing protocols and cost control measures, making sure that food inventory is managed wisely and expenses are kept within budget. In addition, this position requires a proactive leadership style that fosters a positive work environment and encourages teamwork and continuous improvement among all kitchen employees.
Applebee's places a strong emphasis on development and engagement, providing team members with multiple opportunities for career advancement and ongoing education. Part of the benefits package includes access to competitive compensation, comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance plans, paid training, complimentary meals during shifts, and innovative programs like the Earned Wage app, which allows team members to access their earnings before payday. Notably, Applebee's also offers educational resources including the Bill Palmer Legacy Scholarship, a $5,000 annual award that supports the educational aspirations of team members and their children. This focus on growth and support creates a unique and fulfilling career path for those who join Applebee's team.
Working as a Kitchen Manager at Applebee's is ideal for individuals who thrive in fast-paced, dynamic environments and are passionate about culinary excellence and team leadership. This role goes beyond managing kitchen operations; it involves actively inspiring your team to embody Applebee's values and delivering an exceptional dining experience to customers. The role demands excellent communication skills, strong conflict resolution capabilities, and the physical stamina to keep up with the energetic atmosphere of a busy restaurant. Candidates with prior experience in kitchen management within casual restaurant settings will find this position particularly rewarding as it offers both challenges and opportunities for professional growth within a well-respected national brand.
