The Kitchen Manager role at Applebee's holds critical responsibility for managing all back-of-house operations efficiently and effectively. This leadership position involves supervising hourly back-of-house associates, ensuring strict adherence to cleanliness and sanitation standards, and implementing cost control measures to optimize kitchen performance. The Kitchen Manager works closely with the General Manager, aligning kitchen operations with the overall goals of the restaurant. Beyond the operational scope, the Kitchen Manager plays a vital role in maintaining compliance with food safety regulations and responsible alcohol service standards. This position requires valid certifications for both alcohol service and food safety in accordance with state laws. Physically, the role demands standing and active mobility over extended periods, as well as the ability to lift heavy items between 25 to 50 pounds, reflecting the dynamic nature of kitchen work.

Job Requirements
- 2-3 years of management experience in the restaurant entertainment or hospitality industry
- high school diploma or equivalent
- valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- responsible alcohol service and food safety certifications as required
- current alcohol and food certification meeting state requirements
- ability to stand and exert well paced mobility for up to 12 hours
- ability to lift 25-50 pounds
Job Qualifications

Job Duties
- The Kitchen Manager is responsible for the back of the house and all of its functions
- This person will direct the activities of back of the house hourly associates ensuring cleanliness and sanitation, implement purchasing and cost controls, and follow up with corrective action where needed
- The Kitchen manager will ensure that “made from scratch food” is made to specification and will perform any administrative and accounting duties according to company policy
