Job Description
This job opportunity is with a vibrant restaurant known for its locally celebrated pizzas. The establishment prides itself on a commitment to quality and customer satisfaction, earning a reputation as a community favorite. With a focus on creating an 'As Good As Gold' product every time, this restaurant offers an engaging and dynamic culinary environment where kitchen staff play a crucial role in maintaining the high standards that customers expect.
The role available is a Kitchen Line/Prep position, ideal for individuals looking to enter the food service industry or advance their culinary skills. This is an entry-level position located in the back of the house, where team members are essential to crafting the delicious and precise dishes that have made the restaurant a local hero. The position comes with a competitive hourly wage ranging from $17.50 to $22 per hour, plus tips, making it an attractive option for those seeking pay that values their hard work.
Employees in this role benefit from a comprehensive package that includes flexible scheduling to accommodate various personal commitments, shift meals to keep energy levels high during work hours, and team member discounts that extend the food experience beyond the restaurant. For eligible employees, health benefits provide crucial support, while a 401(k) plan with company matching after one year of service offers long-term financial security. Additionally, the restaurant incentivizes performance through quarterly bonuses and celebrates loyalty with annual anniversary bonuses. Beyond compensation, there are ongoing growth and advancement opportunities, reflecting the restaurant's commitment to nurturing talent from within.
As a Kitchen Line/Prep team member, responsibilities involve preparing pizzas and other food items with precision and care. The Line position involves making pizzas with correct ingredient measurements and ensuring food safety by properly cooking items and adhering to hygiene standards. The Prep role focuses on preparing fresh ingredients every morning, ensuring that everything from vegetables to raw chicken is ready for use during service. Tasks also include making and rolling dough and using kitchen equipment safely to maintain operational efficiency.
Both positions require attention to detail and adherence to food safety protocols, such as proper storage temperatures and first-in, first-out inventory use. Additional duties include maintaining cleanliness and organization by washing dishes when necessary, changing trash bags, sweeping periodically, and mopping floors during closing shifts. The fast-paced kitchen environment demands strong organizational skills, the ability to multitask, and physical stamina to handle duties efficiently while standing for entire shifts and lifting heavy items.
A successful candidate will possess a California Food Handler Card, be at least 18 years old, and demonstrate the ability to stay calm under pressure while maintaining a professional demeanor. The physical demands of this role include frequent bending, reaching, lifting up to 75 pounds, and exposure to various kitchen hazards like heat, sharp tools, and humid conditions, with accommodations made for those with disabilities where reasonable.
The restaurant employs an Automated Decision System (ADS) in its hiring process to evaluate candidates based on task ability, self-rated skills, and overall fit for the position. Candidates interested in an alternative selection process can request accommodations by contacting the employer directly.
This position offers a valuable opportunity for individuals passionate about quality food preparation and interested in building a career in the culinary field within a supportive and community-focused environment.
