Job Description

Chipotle Mexican Grill, Inc. is a renowned fast-casual restaurant chain that is revolutionizing the fast-food industry by serving responsibly sourced, classically cooked real food with wholesome ingredients, free from artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives. Operating in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, and Germany, Chipotle stands out as the only restaurant company of its size that owns and operates all its restaurants across North America and Europe. With a focus on sustainability, technology, and digital innovation, Chipotle is on a mission to make better food accessible to everyone while fostering a workplace culture rooted in respect, diversity, and inclusion.

As a Kitchen Leader at Chipotle, you will play a pivotal role in upholding the company’s Food With Integrity philosophy by ensuring the highest quality and safety standards in the kitchen every day. This leadership position is critical in maintaining a clean, organized, and well-stocked kitchen environment, while also ensuring that all kitchen equipment is properly maintained and any malfunctions are swiftly addressed. The Kitchen Leader drives team cohesion by supporting strong communication between front of house and back of house crew members, all while fostering a culture of learning and growth by training crew members to become future Kitchen Leaders themselves.

The role is hands-on and physically demanding, requiring individuals who thrive on being active and engaged throughout their shift. Kitchen Leaders are directly responsible for cooking and prepping delicious food to order, minimizing food waste, managing inventory levels, and responding effectively to any food quality concerns. They serve as role models and mentors, promoting teamwork and a positive work environment, which directly contributes to providing an exceptional customer experience. Moreover, this role involves the careful completion of administrative tasks such as filling out Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and ensuring proper inventory rotation using the First In, First Out (FIFO) method.

Chipotle values its employees by offering competitive compensation, including a base pay range of $17.40 to $19.35 per hour plus eligibility for digital tips. The company also provides a comprehensive benefits package that supports employee well-being and career advancement, including tuition assistance, medical, dental, and vision insurance, paid time off, and holiday closures. At Chipotle, 80% of managers began their careers as crew members, highlighting the company’s commitment to promoting from within and providing opportunities for growth and leadership development.

This role is more than just a job at a fast-food restaurant; it’s part of a larger mission to cultivate a better world through responsible and thoughtful food practices. The ideal candidate will share Chipotle’s values of integrity, community, sustainability, and excellence. By joining the team as a Kitchen Leader, you will be contributing directly to shaping the future of fast food by ensuring every meal delivered to customers meets Chipotle’s high standards and reflects the company’s commitment to quality and sustainability.
