The Kitchen Leader role at Chipotle offers a unique opportunity to be at the heart of delivering exceptional food experiences while fostering team collaboration and leadership development within the restaurant. This role involves learning how to prepare delicious food, including grilling meats and sautéing vegetables, while maintaining the highest standards of food safety and quality. The Kitchen Leader is responsible for overseeing kitchen operations to ensure that food is cooked and prepped according to Chipotle's strict procedures, managing food waste and inventory efficiently, and supporting maintenance of kitchen equipment to keep everything in optimal condition.

Beyond food preparation, the Kitchen Leader acts as a role model and mentor for crew members, helping train and develop them into future leaders who uphold the same values of quality, teamwork, and customer service. The role requires constant engagement on the floor, taking initiative to assist teammates, and ensuring the kitchen environment remains clean, organized, and compliant with all safety guidelines to prevent accidents and injuries.

Job Requirements

  • Have a high school diploma
  • Have restaurant experience
  • Have the ability to understand and articulate Chipotle's Food With Integrity philosophy
  • Have the knowledge and ability to speak, write, and understand the primary language(s) of the work location

Job Qualifications

  • Basic knowledge of kitchen safety and sanitation procedures

Job Duties

  • Ensuring food quality by cooking and prepping food to order and following kitchen procedures
  • Monitoring food waste and inventory levels and resolving food quality issues
  • Supporting a strong team dynamic between back of house crew and front of house crew
  • Developing crew members to be future kitchen leaders
  • Communicating with crew members and customers effectively to ensure great customer service and throughput
  • Ensuring the kitchen is properly cleaned and sanitized
  • Monitoring kitchen equipment and ensuring it is kept in good repair
  • making sure malfunctioning equipment is repaired as quickly as possible
  • Ensuring that the kitchen and all crew members meet guidelines to avoid injuries or accidents
  • Filling out Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and Inventory Rotation (FIFO)
