Job Description
Chipotle Mexican Grill, Inc. is a renowned fast-casual restaurant chain famously recognized for its commitment to serving responsibly sourced, classically cooked, real food made with wholesome ingredients without artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives. Established as a leading innovator in the food industry, Chipotle operates restaurants across North America and Europe, including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, and Germany. A unique aspect of Chipotle's business model is its ownership and operation of all its restaurants in these regions, ensuring high-quality service and food standards consistently. The company prides itself on its core philosophy of cultivating a better world through food, emphasizing sustainable business practices and digital innovation to make great food more accessible to everyone. As a people-first company, Chipotle is dedicated to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion within its workplace, supporting equal opportunities without discrimination based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, age, disability, or veteran status. This dedication reflects in their hiring practices and their efforts in creating respectful work environments where employees can thrive and realize their full potential.
The role of Kitchen Leader at Chipotle is a vital position central to the company’s mission of delivering high-quality food quickly without compromising on excellence or authenticity. As a Kitchen Leader, individuals have the opportunity to develop culinary skills such as grilling meats, sautéing vegetables, and preparing various ingredients to GrubHub's meticulous standards. This position goes beyond food preparation — it requires overseeing kitchen operations to ensure cleanliness, organization, safety, and equipment maintenance. Further responsibilities include managing inventory and food waste, maintaining kitchen sanitation, and serving as a mentor on the floor, helping fellow Crew members develop their skills to become future Kitchen Leaders. This leadership role is especially dynamic; those in it are constantly moving, tackling tasks as they arise, from assisting teammates to solving issues that affect food quality and customer satisfaction. This role is designed for those eager to work in fast-paced environments harmonizing teamwork and leadership with a commitment to Chipotle’s distinctive Food With Integrity philosophy.
Besides hands-on kitchen management, Kitchen Leaders play a critical role in maintaining the bridge between back-of-house and front-of-house crew members to ensure smooth operations and an exceptional customer experience. They are responsible for upholding health and safety standards, completing safety documentation like Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), and ensuring that the kitchen operates without incidents or injuries. This position offers competitive compensation starting from $20.75 to $23.08 per hour, along with eligibility for digital tips and a robust package of benefits. These incentives include tuition assistance covering 100% of selected degrees or up to $5,250 annually, free meals, medical, dental, and vision insurance, paid time off, and holiday closures. Notably, Chipotle emphasizes internal career growth, with a significant percentage of its managers having started their journey as Crew members, providing an excellent pathway for advancement. Kitchen Leaders not only contribute to the present but help shape the future of Chipotle by cultivating leadership skills and operational excellence within their teams.
