The role of Kitchen Leader is a pivotal position within Chipotle’s operations, combining culinary skills with leadership and team development. As a Kitchen Leader, you will master the art of preparing delicious food by learning to grill meats, sauté vegetables, and ensure every dish meets Chipotle’s high standards of quality and taste. This role goes beyond cooking; it involves training and mentoring other Crew members to become future Kitchen Leaders, fostering a collaborative and efficient kitchen environment. The Kitchen Leader is responsible for maintaining cleanliness, organization, and inventory management in the kitchen, while also ensuring that all equipment is in good working order and that food safety standards are strictly upheld.

This is a dynamic, hands-on position where the Kitchen Leader serves as a role model to their team, promoting a strong culture of teamwork and customer-focused service. The role requires being proactive in addressing any issues that arise during service, optimizing kitchen throughput, and supporting a cohesive relationship between back-of-house and front-of-house crew members. In addition to operational tasks, the Kitchen Leader plays a key role in communication, ensuring that the team is aligned and customers receive timely, high-quality food service. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma
  • Previous restaurant experience
  • Ability to understand and articulate Chipotle's Food With Integrity philosophy
  • Knowledge of the primary language(s) of the work location
  • Physical ability to stand for long periods and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays

  • Previous restaurant experience
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team
  • Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices

Job Duties

  • Ensuring food quality by cooking and prepping food to order and following kitchen procedures
  • Monitoring food waste and inventory levels and resolving food quality issues
  • Supporting a strong team dynamic between back of house crew and front of house crew
  • Developing crew members to be future kitchen leaders
  • Communicating with crew members and customers effectively to ensure great customer service and throughput
  • Ensuring the kitchen is properly cleaned and sanitized
  • Monitoring kitchen equipment and ensuring it is kept in good repair
  • Making sure malfunctioning equipment is repaired as quickly as possible
  • Ensuring that the kitchen and all crew members meet necessary guidelines to prevent injuries or accidents
  • Filling out Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and Inventory Rotation (FIFO)
