The Kitchen Leader role at Chipotle is an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about food quality, team leadership, and creating an outstanding customer experience. Kitchen Leaders are entrusted with preparing great food by mastering techniques such as grilling meats and sautéing vegetables, ensuring every dish meets Chipotle's high standards for taste and presentation. Beyond cooking, this position is responsible for managing the kitchen environment by keeping it clean, organized, and well-stocked, and ensuring all equipment is maintained properly to support smooth operations.

As a Kitchen Leader, you will play a pivotal role in developing and mentoring Crew members to become future Kitchen Leaders, fostering a strong team dynamic between the back-of-house and front-of-house staff. This position involves actively monitoring food inventory and waste, resolving food quality issues promptly, and maintaining compliance with all health and safety guidelines. You will also facilitate effective communication among team members and customers to uphold a positive and efficient service flow.

This role is dynamic and fast-paced, requiring Kitchen Leaders to be constantly engaged on their feet, proactively addressing tasks, and assisting teammates as necessary to meet station goals. The ideal candidate should embody Chipotle's Food With Integrity philosophy and bring a strong work ethic, excellent communication skills, and the ability to lead and inspire others in a collaborative environment.

Job Duties

  • Ensuring food quality by cooking and prepping food to order and following kitchen procedures
  • Monitoring food waste and inventory levels and resolving food quality issues
  • Supporting a strong team dynamic between back of house Crew and front of house Crew
  • Developing Crew members to be future Kitchen Leaders
  • Communicating with Crew members and customers effectively to ensure great customer service and throughput
  • Ensuring the kitchen is properly cleaned and sanitized
  • Monitoring kitchen equipment and ensuring it is kept in good repair
  • Making sure malfunctioning equipment is repaired quickly
  • Ensuring kitchen and Crew meet safety guidelines to prevent injuries or accidents
  • Filling out Material Safety Data Sheets and Inventory Rotation records
