Job Description
Chipotle Mexican Grill, Inc. (NYSE: CMG) is a renowned fast-casual restaurant company known for its commitment to cultivating a better world by serving responsibly sourced, classically cooked, real food made with wholesome ingredients free from artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives. With locations across the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, and Germany, Chipotle has distinguished itself as a leader and innovator in the food industry. The company uniquely owns and operates all its restaurants in North America and Europe, ensuring consistent quality and customer experience. Chipotle is deeply committed to making better food accessible to everyone and leading the way in digital, technology, and sustainable business practices.
Chipotle is not just a restaurant but a community of employees passionate about providing a great guest experience while shaping the future of farming and food. The company’s culture centers around values such as diversity, equity, and inclusion, making it a people-first organization that hires world-class individuals and fosters an environment where everyone is welcomed and celebrated. In addition, Chipotle offers reasonable accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act for applicants with disabilities to ensure equitable participation throughout the hiring process.
The Kitchen Leader role at Chipotle presents a unique opportunity for those passionate about food and leadership. As a Kitchen Leader, you will be trained to prepare delicious food by learning essential kitchen skills such as grilling meats and sautéing vegetables. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the quality, safety, and consistency of the food prepared and served daily. This role requires keeping the kitchen clean, organized, and well-stocked while making sure that all kitchen equipment is maintained and functioning properly.
The Kitchen Leader plays a critical role in supporting a collaborative and efficient team dynamic by acting as a role model for Crew members and mentoring them to become future Kitchen Leaders. This position demands active engagement throughout the shift, requiring you to be on your feet, managing your station's goals, addressing tasks proactively, and assisting teammates whenever needed. Beyond cooking and prep work, the role involves ordering food supplies, monitoring inventory levels, and minimizing food waste to maintain operational effectiveness.
A successful Kitchen Leader communicates effectively with both crew and customers, ensuring seamless customer service and kitchen throughput. You will also be responsible for ensuring compliance with health and safety guidelines to prevent accidents or injuries within the kitchen environment. Additional duties include filling out necessary documentation such as Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and managing inventory rotation using the FIFO method.
This role is ideal for individuals with restaurant experience, a dedication to Chipotle’s Food With Integrity philosophy, and strong leadership potential. Chipotle values your growth, offering opportunities for advancement with a significant percentage of managers initially starting as Crew members. Working at Chipotle means benefiting from competitive compensation and an extensive range of perks, including tuition assistance, free food, medical, dental, and vision insurance, digital tips, paid time off, and holiday closures.
Joining Chipotle as a Kitchen Leader means becoming part of a brand that is revolutionizing fast food, prioritizing quality ingredients, exceptional customer experiences, and a positive workplace culture. If you are passionate about food and leadership and seek a career where you can make a difference, Chipotle offers a vibrant and supportive environment where you can thrive and grow your skills while cultivating a better world.
