The Kitchen Leader role at Chipotle is a pivotal position that blends culinary skills, team leadership, and operational excellence. As a Kitchen Leader, you will be responsible for ensuring the food served is delicious by preparing and cooking high-quality ingredients including grilling meats and sautéing vegetables according to Chipotle's stringent food safety and quality standards. This position requires hands-on involvement in daily kitchen operations such as ordering inventory, monitoring food waste, maintaining kitchen cleanliness, and ensuring all equipment is properly maintained and operational.

Moreover, the Kitchen Leader acts as a mentor and role model for crew members, guiding them to develop their culinary and leadership skills to become future leaders within the kitchen. Your role will also involve fostering a strong team dynamic by supporting collaboration between the back of house and front of house teams, ensuring an exceptional customer experience through effective communication and teamwork. Safety is a top priority, and you'll ensure adherence to all health and safety guidelines to avoid accidents and maintain a sanitary work environment.

Chipotle offers competitive compensation for this role, with a base pay range from $16.90 to $18.81 per hour, which is complemented by eligibility for digital tips. The company also provides an attractive benefits package including tuition assistance covering up to 100% for select degrees or up to $5,250 per year, free food during shifts, medical, dental, and vision insurance, paid time off, holiday closures, and numerous opportunities for career advancement, with 80% of managers starting as crew members.

Job Duties

  • Ensuring food quality by cooking and prepping food to order and following kitchen procedures
  • Monitoring food waste and inventory levels and resolving food quality issues
  • Supporting a strong team dynamic between back of house Crew and front of house Crew
  • Developing Crew members to be future Kitchen Leaders
  • Communicating with Crew members and customers effectively to ensure great customer service and throughput
  • Ensuring the kitchen is properly cleaned and sanitized
  • Monitoring kitchen equipment and ensuring it is kept in good repair and making sure malfunctioning equipment is repaired as quickly as possible
