The Kitchen Leader role at Chipotle is an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about food quality, teamwork, and leadership within a dynamic kitchen environment. As a Kitchen Leader, you will be instrumental in preparing delicious food by mastering skills such as grilling meats, sautéeing vegetables, and cooking and prepping food to exact standards. The responsibility goes beyond cooking; it also involves managing food quality and safety, maintaining an organized and well-stocked kitchen, and ensuring all equipment is properly maintained and functioning. You will play a pivotal role in fostering a strong team dynamic between back-of-house and front-of-house crew members, serving as a role model and trainer for future Kitchen Leaders. This position demands a hands-on approach, where you remain active and engaged on the floor, helping out wherever needed to achieve station goals and excellent customer service.
Additionally, the Kitchen Leader is tasked with minimizing food waste, monitoring inventory levels, and addressing any food quality issues promptly. Maintaining the kitchen's cleanliness and sanitation in line with health and safety standards is crucial, alongside ensuring the overall safety of all crew members to prevent injuries or accidents. The role also includes important administrative duties such as completing Material Safety Data Sheets and managing inventory rotation (FIFO). Chipotle offers this position as a part of a supportive team where learning and career development are prioritized — 80% of managers started as crew members, highlighting strong opportunities for advancement.

Job Duties
- Ensuring food quality by cooking and prepping food to order and following kitchen procedures
- Monitoring food waste and inventory levels and resolving food quality issues
- Supporting a strong team dynamic between back of house Crew and front of house Crew
- Developing Crew members to be future Kitchen Leaders
- Communicating with Crew members and customers effectively to ensure great customer service and throughput
- Ensuring the kitchen is properly cleaned and sanitized
- Monitoring kitchen equipment and ensuring it is kept in good repair
- Making sure malfunctioning equipment is repaired as quickly as possible
- Ensuring that the kitchen itself and all Crew members meet necessary guidelines to avoid injuries or accidents
- Filling out Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and Inventory Rotation (FIFO)
