Job Description
Chipotle Mexican Grill, Inc. (NYSE: CMG) is a renowned fast-casual restaurant chain dedicated to cultivating a better world by serving responsibly sourced, classically cooked, real food made from wholesome ingredients without artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives. Established as a market leader and innovator within the food industry, Chipotle operates restaurants across the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, and Germany. Unique among peers, Chipotle owns and operates all its restaurants in North America and Europe, emphasizing quality control, consistency, and a commitment to its Food With Integrity philosophy. With a passionate workforce focused on delivering exceptional guest experiences, Chipotle continues to push boundaries in digital innovation, sustainability, and responsible business practices.
As a Kitchen Leader at Chipotle, you play a pivotal role in ensuring every plate served meets the highest standards of deliciousness and quality. This role goes beyond typical fast-food preparation by emphasizing craft, teamwork, and leadership. The Kitchen Leader is responsible for cooking and prepping great food, including grilling meats and sautéing vegetables to Chipotle’s exacting standards. Beyond food preparation, the role entails maintaining an organized, clean, and well-stocked kitchen environment with fully functioning equipment to ensure smooth operations. As a key figure in the back of house, the Kitchen Leader helps foster a cohesive team dynamic between back and front-of-house crews, promoting efficient service and a positive customer experience.
A critical component of the Kitchen Leader’s responsibilities is developing and training crew members to assume future leadership positions. This mentorship element ensures a pipeline of skilled kitchen professionals well-versed in the company’s rigorous food safety and quality procedures. The position demands excellent communication skills to disseminate important information among team members and address customer needs effectively. In addition, the Kitchen Leader monitors food inventory and waste, resolving quality issues promptly and ensuring compliance with safety and sanitation guidelines including accurate completion of Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and adherence to inventory rotation protocols like FIFO (First In, First Out).
Chipotle offers a compelling employment package with opportunities for personal growth and advancement, underscoring its philosophy that 80% of managers started as crew members. The company also supports employee education through tuition assistance programs covering up to 100% of select degrees or up to $5,250 per year. Comprehensive benefits include free meals, medical, dental, and vision insurance, paid time off, holiday closures, and digital tip sharing, making Chipotle not only a vibrant place to work but also a rewarding and supportive environment for career development.
Working as a Kitchen Leader at Chipotle means joining a purpose-driven organization committed to inclusivity, diversity, and equitable practices. The company is an equal opportunity employer and provides reasonable accommodations to ensure all candidates have access to the hiring process regardless of disability status. This role is ideal for individuals who believe in the mission of making better food accessible to everyone and who want to contribute to shaping the future of food and farming within a fast-paced, innovative setting.
