Job Description
Chipotle Mexican Grill, Inc. (NYSE: CMG) is a renowned fast-casual restaurant chain dedicated to cultivating a better world through responsibly sourced, classically cooked, and wholesome food. Established as a leader and innovator in the food industry, Chipotle operates restaurants throughout the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, and Germany. Unlike many of its competitors, Chipotle uniquely owns and operates all its restaurants in North America and Europe, ensuring quality and consistency in its offerings. Known for its commitment to serving real food without artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives, Chipotle prioritizes sustainable business practices, digital innovation, and technology, all while promoting an inclusive and diverse workplace culture.
Chipotle is more than just a restaurant; it is a movement to change the face of fast food by starting vital conversations and supporting efforts toward a future focused on sustainable farming and food accessibility. The company’s purpose extends beyond food, emphasizing world-class employee development and fostering a culture that values diversity, equity, and inclusion across all levels of the organization. Chipotle Mexican Grill is an equal-opportunity employer, committed to accommodating qualified applicants with disabilities and encouraging all qualified individuals regardless of personal characteristics to apply.
The role of Kitchen Leader at Chipotle offers a unique opportunity to learn the art of food preparation, including grilling meats and sautéing vegetables, while ensuring that every dish served meets the highest standards of quality and deliciousness. As a Kitchen Leader, you are responsible for managing kitchen operations by ordering food, training crew members to become future leaders, and maintaining an organized, clean, and efficient kitchen environment. The position is fast-paced, requiring a hands-on approach, teamwork, and the ability to multitask to meet daily goals.
A Kitchen Leader acts as a role model and mentor for the crew, embodying Chipotle’s core values and the Food With Integrity philosophy. This philosophy emphasizes the importance of using wholesome ingredients and cooking techniques that honor both the food and the people eating it. Kitchen Leaders also oversee kitchen hygiene and safety, ensure proper maintenance of equipment, monitor inventory and food waste, and support strong team dynamics between back-of-house and front-of-house staff to deliver an exceptional customer experience.
Chipotle provides valuable benefits to Kitchen Leaders, including tuition assistance covering 100% of select degrees or up to $5,250 per year, free meals during shifts, comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance, paid time off, holiday closures, digital tips, and opportunities for career advancement. Notably, 80% of Chipotle’s managers started as crew members, highlighting the company’s commitment to internal promotion and professional growth.
Working at Chipotle means joining a people-first company rooted in values that reach beyond nutritious food. As a Kitchen Leader, you will be part of a passionate team dedicated to food quality, operational excellence, and creating memorable guest experiences. You will gain hands-on experience, leadership skills, and the chance to contribute meaningfully to Chipotle’s mission of continuing to evolve and shape what comes next in fast-casual dining. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about food, leadership, and making a positive impact in the fast-food industry while enjoying competitive compensation and a supportive work environment.
