The role of Kitchen Leader at Chipotle is vital to the restaurant's commitment to delivering exceptional food quality and an outstanding customer experience. As a Kitchen Leader, you will develop skills in preparing and cooking a variety of menu items, including grilling meats and sautéing vegetables, all while ensuring that food meets Chipotle's high standards for taste and safety. This leadership position involves managing the kitchen environment to maintain cleanliness, organization, and proper equipment maintenance. Kitchen Leaders are also responsible for inventory management and minimizing food waste, which are important for operational efficiency.

Beyond the operational responsibilities, Kitchen Leaders play a key role in fostering teamwork between back-of-house and front-of-house staff, contributing to a positive work environment and seamless guest service. You will have the opportunity to train and mentor Crew members aspiring to take on Kitchen Leader roles in the future, making this position foundational for career advancement within the company.

Job Duties

  • Ensuring food quality by cooking and prepping food to order and following kitchen procedures
  • monitoring food waste and inventory levels and resolving food quality issues
  • supporting a strong team dynamic between back of house Crew and front of house Crew
  • developing Crew members to be future Kitchen Leaders
  • communicating with Crew members and customers effectively to ensure great customer service and throughput
  • ensuring the kitchen is properly cleaned and sanitized
  • monitoring kitchen equipment and ensuring it is kept in good repair and making sure malfunctioning equipment is repaired as quickly as possible
  • ensuring that the kitchen itself and all Crew members meet the necessary guidelines to prevent injuries or accidents
  • filling out Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and Inventory Rotation (FIFO)
