The Kitchen Leader role at Chipotle is an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about food quality and team leadership. As a Kitchen Leader, you will be deeply involved in preparing great food, including grilling meats and sautéing vegetables, ensuring every dish meets Chipotle's high standards for taste and safety. The role requires a hands-on approach to maintaining a clean, organized, and well-stocked kitchen where all equipment is in excellent working condition. Beyond food preparation, Kitchen Leaders play a critical role in promoting a collaborative team environment by supporting both back-of-house and front-of-house Crew members.

Kitchen Leaders serve as role models, guiding and training crew members to become future leaders within the kitchen, thus contributing to the overall progression and strength of the team. This position demands constant activity while on the clock, with leaders staying busy, managing their stations effectively, and pitching in wherever needed to ensure smooth operations and outstanding customer experiences. Responsibilities also include managing inventory levels, minimizing food waste, troubleshooting food quality issues, and ensuring compliance with food safety and cleanliness standards.

Job Duties

  • ensuring food quality by cooking and prepping food to order, and following kitchen procedures
  • monitoring food waste and inventory levels, and resolving food quality issues
  • supporting a strong team dynamic between back of house Crew and front of house Crew
  • developing Crew members to be future Kitchen Leaders
  • communicating with Crew members and customers effectively in order to ensure great customer service and throughput
  • ensuring the kitchen is properly cleaned and sanitized
  • monitoring kitchen equipment and ensuring it is kept in good repair
  • making sure malfunctioning equipment is repaired as quickly as possible
  • ensuring that the kitchen itself and all Crew members meet the necessary guidelines to ensure there are no injuries or accidents
  • filling out Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and Inventory Rotation (FIFO)
