Job Description
Chipotle Mexican Grill, Inc. is a prominent and pioneering fast-casual restaurant chain known for its commitment to serving responsibly sourced, classically cooked, and real food made from wholesome ingredients without the use of artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives. As a leader and innovator in the food industry, Chipotle operates restaurants across the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, and Germany. The company stands unique in its industry as it owns and operates all its restaurants in both North America and Europe, maintaining direct control over quality and consistency. Chipotle’s mission goes beyond just fast food; it is dedicated to cultivating a better world through sustainable business practices, advancing technology, and digital solutions, and supporting efforts that shape the future of farming and food. This commitment is evident in everything the company does, from food preparation to creating dynamic customer experiences at its establishments.
The role of Kitchen Leader at Chipotle is a vital position that embodies the company’s philosophy of Food With Integrity. It is an opportunity to join a fast-paced environment and actively contribute to preparing delicious meals, grilling meats, sautéing vegetables, and ensuring food safety and quality. As a Kitchen Leader, you will be central to maintaining a high standard of food preparation, cleanliness, organization, and kitchen maintenance. The role requires multitasking and leadership, as you will also be responsible for training and mentoring crew members towards becoming future Kitchen Leaders. This is a hands-on role where you will be expected to pitch in, collaborate with front-of-house and back-of-house teams, and promote a positive, team-oriented environment.
In addition to managing daily kitchen operations, the Kitchen Leader will oversee inventory management, monitor food waste, and resolve any food quality issues. Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations is a top priority, including completing necessary documentation such as Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and inventory rotation practices. The position offers an excellent opportunity to develop leadership skills within a company known for its career advancement, where 80% of managers began as crew members. The base pay range for the Kitchen Leader role is $21.25 to $23.65 per hour, supplemented by digital tips and a competitive benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision insurance, tuition assistance, and more.
Chipotle champions diversity and inclusion in its workforce and is committed to providing reasonable accommodations for qualified applicants with disabilities. This people-first culture fosters growth, supports equity, and ensures every team member can thrive while contributing to Chipotle's mission of making better food accessible to everyone.
