The role of Kitchen Leader at Chipotle offers a dynamic opportunity to be at the heart of this innovative culinary environment. As a Kitchen Leader, you will master the art of preparing great food, including grilling meats and sautéing vegetables, ensuring that every dish is not only delicious but also meets Chipotle’s high food quality and safety standards. This position goes beyond food preparation—Kitchen Leaders are pivotal in maintaining a clean, organized, and well-stocked kitchen, ensuring all equipment is properly maintained and in excellent working condition. As a leader in the kitchen, you will serve as a role model and trainer, mentoring Crew members to develop their skills and preparing them for future leadership opportunities within the company. It’s a position that values teamwork, with a focus on creating an exceptional customer experience by fostering strong collaboration between the back of house and front of house teams. Kitchen Leaders are active, hands-on team members who take initiative, tackle various tasks, and help their colleagues to ensure smooth and efficient kitchen operations throughout their shift.

Job Requirements

Job Duties

  • ensuring food quality by cooking and prepping food to order and following kitchen procedures
  • monitoring food waste and inventory levels and resolving food quality issues
  • supporting a strong team dynamic between back of house crew and front of house crew
  • developing crew members to be future kitchen leaders
  • communicating with crew members and customers effectively in order to ensure great customer service and throughput
  • ensuring the kitchen is properly cleaned and sanitized
  • monitoring kitchen equipment and ensuring it is kept in good repair making sure malfunctioning equipment is repaired as quickly as possible
  • ensuring that the kitchen itself and all crew members meet the necessary guidelines to ensure there are no injuries or accidents
  • filling out material safety data sheets (MSDS) and inventory rotation (FIFO)
