The role of Kitchen Leader at Chipotle is an exciting opportunity for individuals who are passionate about food quality, team development, and delivering outstanding customer experiences. As a Kitchen Leader, you will gain hands-on experience in preparing and cooking great food, including grilling meats and sautéing vegetables. You will be responsible for ensuring that every meal produced meets Chipotle’s high standards of taste and safety by maintaining rigorous kitchen procedures and closely monitoring food preparation. This position also involves inventory management, controlling food waste, and resolving any food quality concerns promptly.

In addition to your culinary responsibilities, the Kitchen Leader plays an essential role in fostering a collaborative work environment. You will support a strong team dynamic between back-of-house and front-of-house crew members, demonstrating leadership that encourages cooperation and mutual respect. The role also includes training and mentoring crew members, helping them grow into future Kitchen Leaders themselves, thereby continually strengthening the management pipeline within the restaurant.

Operational excellence is another major focus for the Kitchen Leader. You will ensure that the kitchen remains clean, organized, and well-stocked, with all equipment maintained in good working order. Safety is paramount, so you will oversee compliance with health and safety regulations to prevent incidents and maintain a safe working space for all team members. Additionally, you will be involved in completing important documentation, such as Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and Inventory Rotation (FIFO) processes.

Job Duties

  • Ensuring food quality by cooking and prepping food to order and following kitchen procedures
  • Monitoring food waste and inventory levels and resolving food quality issues
  • Supporting a strong team dynamic between back of house Crew and front of house Crew
  • Developing Crew members to be future Kitchen Leaders
  • Communicating with Crew members and customers effectively in order to ensure great customer service and throughput
  • Ensuring the kitchen is properly cleaned and sanitized
  • Monitoring kitchen equipment and ensuring it is kept in good repair
  • ensuring malfunctioning equipment is repaired as quickly as possible
  • Ensuring that the kitchen itself and all Crew members meet the necessary guidelines to ensure there are no injuries or accidents
  • Filling out Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and Inventory Rotation (FIFO)
