Job Description

Perkins is currently seeking a Kitchen Leader to join their team. This role is vital to the smooth operation and overall success of the kitchen, requiring a hands-on leader capable of maintaining efficiency, quality, and safety standards. The Kitchen Leader will work closely with the Kitchen Manager to ensure compliance with budgetary constraints while streamlining operations for optimal productivity. The Kitchen Leader will oversee food preparation practices, monitor food temperatures to ensure safety, and maintain a clean and safe kitchen facility. Job Requirements

  • Must have high level of mobility and flexibility
  • Ability to work irregular hours under heavy stress and pressure during peak times
  • Ability to coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds for distances up to 30 feet
  • Must be able to fit through an opening 30 inches wide
  • Requires frequent reaching, bending, pushing and pulling
  • Exposure to heat, steam, smoke, cold and odors
  • Requires continual standing and walking

Job Qualifications

  • Basic skills in sanitation, safety, and customer service taught through in-house training
  • Must be able to communicate clearly
  • High level of coordination and multitasking ability
  • Experience working in fast-paced kitchen environment preferred

Job Duties

  • Work cooperatively with kitchen manager to ensure all budget expenses are within limits
  • Identify and communicate ways to improve and streamline operations
  • Keep general manager/kitchen manager informed of problems or issues and propose alternative solutions
  • Maintain a clean and safe facility
  • Monitor and oversee food temperatures during hot and cold handling to reduce risk of foodborne illness
  • Communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing
  • Ensure clear communication with vendors providing restaurant equipment and supplies
  • Complete walk-through and temperature checks in the kitchen
  • Assist in ordering food, produce, liquor and restaurant supplies
  • Assist in receiving deliveries and check paperwork for item receipt
  • Provide direction to staff for stocking items
  • Perform and assist in all kitchen operations functions
