The role of Kitchen Leader at Chipotle is a dynamic and rewarding opportunity designed for individuals who are passionate about food quality, leadership, and creating an excellent customer experience. As a Kitchen Leader, you will take pride in preparing exceptional food while maintaining high standards of cleanliness, organization, and kitchen safety. This position involves hands-on responsibilities such as cooking, grilling meats, sautéing vegetables, and overseeing food preparation to ensure each dish meets Chipotle’s rigorous quality standards. You will also be entrusted with managing inventory levels, monitoring food waste, and ensuring kitchen equipment remains in top condition, minimizing downtime and disruptions.
A critical aspect of the Kitchen Leader role is leadership development—training and mentoring Crew members to become future Kitchen Leaders themselves. You will act as a role model, promoting teamwork and effective communication between back-of-house and front-of-house staff, all working together to deliver a fast, friendly, and satisfying customer experience. This role is fast-paced and active, requiring a proactive attitude that anticipates needs and promptly addresses issues. Chipotle values individuals who are energized by multi-tasking and supporting their teammates in high-pressure environments.
Compensation for the Kitchen Leader position ranges from $17.90 to $19.93 per hour, with eligibility for digital tips on top of base pay. Chipotle also offers a comprehensive benefits package aimed at supporting the well-being and professional development of its employees. This includes tuition assistance covering 100% of select degree costs or up to $5,250 per year, free meals during shifts, medical, dental, and vision insurance options, paid time off, holiday closures, and clear pathways for career advancement. Job Requirements

Job Duties
- ensuring food quality by cooking and prepping food to order, and following kitchen procedures
- monitoring food waste and inventory levels, and resolving food quality issues
- supporting a strong team dynamic between back of house crew and front of house crew
- developing crew members to be future kitchen leaders
- communicating with crew members and customers effectively in order to ensure great customer service and throughput
- ensuring the kitchen is properly cleaned and sanitized
- monitoring kitchen equipment and ensuring it is kept in good repair
- making sure malfunctioning equipment is repaired as quickly as possible
- ensuring that the kitchen itself and all crew members meet the necessary guidelines to ensure there are no injuries or accidents
- filling out material safety data sheets (MSDS) and inventory rotation (FIFO)
