The Kitchen Leader role at Chipotle is a vital position responsible for maintaining the high standards of food quality, safety, and efficiency in the kitchen. This role involves hands-on food preparation, including cooking, grilling, and sautéing, ensuring that every dish is made to perfection. The Kitchen Leader also plays a critical part in managing kitchen inventory, minimizing food waste, and maintaining cleanliness and organization. Additionally, they act as role models and trainers for crew members, helping them develop the skills to become future Kitchen Leaders themselves.

Beyond managing food preparation, the Kitchen Leader works closely with both the back-of-house and front-of-house teams to foster a supportive, high-performance environment. Effective communication and teamwork are paramount to delivering a smooth and enjoyable customer experience. The role requires constant attention to kitchen equipment, making sure it is well-maintained and repaired promptly when necessary to avoid disruptions.

  • Have a high school diploma
  • Have restaurant experience

Job Duties

  • Ensuring food quality by cooking and prepping food to order, and following kitchen procedures
  • Monitoring food waste and inventory levels, and resolving food quality issues
  • Supporting a strong team dynamic between back of house Crew and front of house Crew
  • Developing Crew members to be future Kitchen Leaders
  • Communicating with Crew members and customers effectively in order to ensure great customer service and throughput
  • Ensuring the kitchen is properly cleaned and sanitized
  • Monitoring kitchen equipment and ensuring it is kept in good repair
  • making sure malfunctioning equipment is repaired as quickly as possible
  • Ensuring that the kitchen itself and all Crew members meet the necessary guidelines to ensure there are no injuries or accidents
  • Filling out Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and Inventory Rotation (FIFO)
