The position of Kitchen Leader at Perkins is a vital role focused on overseeing kitchen staff and ensuring the smooth daily operation of the kitchen to meet both quality and guest satisfaction goals. As a Kitchen Leader, the individual will work closely with the Kitchen Manager and General Manager to maintain budget controls, promote cleanliness and safety, and support efficient kitchen operations. This role involves monitoring food safety practices like temperature control to minimize risks associated with foodborne illness, ensuring proper communication with vendors, and assisting in inventory management such as ordering and receiving supplies. The Kitchen Leader must have strong leadership abilities and communication skills to manage a productive and safe work environment. They will be hands-on in performing kitchen duties and coordinating with team members to provide exceptional dining service. Job Requirements

  • Must have a high level of mobility and flexibility
  • Must be able to work irregular hours under heavy stress and pressure during peak times
  • Must be able to coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Must possess a high level of coordination
  • Must lift and carry up to 50 pounds for distances up to 30 feet
  • Must be able to fit through an opening 30 inches wide
  • Requires frequent reaching, bending, pushing, and pulling
  • Exposure to heat, steam, smoke, cold, and odors
  • Requires continual standing and walking

Job Qualifications

  • Basic skills such as sanitation, safety, and customer service taught through in-house training
  • Must be able to communicate clearly

Job Duties

  • Work cooperatively with Kitchen Manager to ensure all budget expenses are within limits
  • Identify and communicate ways to improve and streamline operation
  • Keep General Manager and Kitchen Manager informed of problems and propose alternative solutions
  • Maintain a clean and safe facility
  • Monitor and oversee food temperatures during hot and cold handling to reduce risks of food borne illness
  • Communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing
  • Ensure clear communication with vendors providing restaurant equipment and supplies
