The opportunity offered is for the role of Kitchen Leader, a pivotal position within Chipotle's operational team, designed for individuals passionate about food preparation and leadership in a dynamic kitchen environment. As a Kitchen Leader, you will gain hands-on experience in preparing great food by grilling meats and sautéing vegetables, ensuring every dish is delicious and meets Chipotle’s strict food quality standards. This role requires balancing food preparation with leadership responsibilities such as ordering food supplies, maintaining kitchen cleanliness and organization, and training and mentoring Crew members to become future Kitchen Leaders themselves. The Kitchen Leader acts as a role model, promoting teamwork and a culture of excellence that enhances the overall customer experience.
In this role, you are expected to be proactive, managing kitchen equipment maintenance and repairs promptly, monitoring food inventory and waste, and upholding stringent safety and sanitation standards. The position is fast-paced and physically engaging, requiring you to handle various tasks simultaneously and support your team whenever needed. Your communication skills will be essential in coordinating effectively with both back-of-house and front-of-house teams to ensure smooth operations and excellent service delivery. Beyond day-to-day duties, the Kitchen Leader also plays a crucial role in championing Chipotle’s Food With Integrity philosophy, aligning daily practices with the brand's commitment to quality, sustainability, and social responsibility.
Chipotle offers a competitive compensation package for this position, with base pay ranging from $18.20 to $20.26 per hour, supplemented by digital tips. The Company fosters professional growth and advancement opportunities, with 80 percent of managers internally promoted from Crew positions. Job Duties
- Ensuring food quality by cooking and prepping food to order and following kitchen procedures
- Monitoring food waste and inventory levels and resolving food quality issues
- Supporting a strong team dynamic between back of house Crew and front of house Crew
- Developing Crew members to be future Kitchen Leaders
- Communicating with Crew members and customers effectively to ensure great customer service and throughput
- Ensuring the kitchen is properly cleaned and sanitized
- Monitoring kitchen equipment and ensuring it is kept in good repair and making sure malfunctioning equipment is repaired as quickly as possible
- Ensuring that the kitchen and all Crew members meet the necessary guidelines to prevent injuries or accidents
- Filling out Material Safety Data Sheets and Inventory Rotation (FIFO)
