The Kitchen Leader role at Chipotle is a vital position responsible for delivering exceptional food quality every day by preparing, cooking, and grilling to exact standards. This role goes beyond simple food preparation; it is about driving operational excellence in the kitchen by maintaining cleanliness, organization, and equipment upkeep to guarantee a seamless workflow. Kitchen Leaders also play a crucial part in fostering a positive and productive team environment by training and mentoring Crew members to become future leaders within the kitchen, supporting a culture of continuous learning and collaborative effort. On any given day, Kitchen Leaders manage inventory, monitor food waste, and ensure compliance with health and safety standards, including filling out important documentation such as Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and adhering to FIFO inventory rotation protocols. Communication skills are key, as Kitchen Leaders interact with both front-of-house and back-of-house teams to ensure that every customer receives top-tier service and quality. This position offers a dynamic, fast-paced work environment where teamwork, attentiveness, and leadership are essential to success.

This is a full-time position with competitive compensation ranging from $21.25 to $23.65 per hour, plus eligibility for digital tips. Job Requirements

  • Have a high school diploma
  • Have restaurant experience
  • Have the ability to understand and articulate Chipotle’s Food With Integrity philosophy
  • Have the knowledge and ability to speak, write, and understand the primary language(s) of the work location

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous restaurant experience
  • Strong understanding of food safety and quality standards
  • Ability to train and mentor team members
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Job Duties

  • Ensuring food quality by cooking and prepping food to order and following kitchen procedures
  • Monitoring food waste and inventory levels and resolving food quality issues
  • Supporting a strong team dynamic between back of house Crew and front of house Crew
  • Developing Crew members to be future Kitchen Leaders
  • Communicating with Crew members and customers effectively to ensure great customer service and throughput
  • Ensuring the kitchen is properly cleaned and sanitized
  • Monitoring kitchen equipment and ensuring it is kept in good repair making sure malfunctioning equipment is repaired as quickly as possible
  • Ensuring that the kitchen and all Crew members meet necessary guidelines to prevent injuries or accidents
  • Filling out Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and Inventory Rotation (FIFO)
