Job Description
Chipotle Mexican Grill, Inc. (NYSE: CMG) is a dynamic and innovative fast-casual restaurant chain acclaimed for serving responsibly sourced, classically cooked food using real ingredients without artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives. Established as a leader in redefining fast food, Chipotle operates restaurants across the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, and Germany, and uniquely owns and operates all its North American and European locations. The company's commitment to ethical sourcing and sustainability, combined with a focus on technology and digital innovation, sets it apart in the food industry. Chipotle’s mission is to cultivate a better world by making high-quality, better food accessible to everyone, and this vision is embedded in every aspect of its operations.
As an employer, Chipotle champions a people-first culture that values diversity, equity, and inclusion at all levels. Providing jobs with meaningful opportunities for growth and development, Chipotle offers a supportive work environment where every team member is encouraged to thrive. The company upholds strong ethical values, fostering an atmosphere where employees are empowered to make positive impacts both inside and outside the restaurant.
The role of Kitchen Leader at Chipotle is a pivotal position that blends leadership, culinary skills, and team development initiatives. This position offers a unique opportunity to be at the heart of food preparation and quality assurance, ensuring that every customer receives delicious, high-quality meals that reflect Chipotle’s Food With Integrity philosophy. Kitchen Leaders take ownership of kitchen operations including cooking, grilling, sautéing, inventory management, and maintaining cleanliness and safety standards. They also serve as role models, guiding the back-of-house crew to develop professionally and prepare them to become future Kitchen Leaders.
Every day, Kitchen Leaders contribute to fostering a positive team dynamic between kitchen and front-of-house staff to create an excellent customer experience. This hands-on leadership role requires multitasking and problem-solving skills, as Leaders manage food quality, equipment maintenance, food safety protocols, and waste reduction. Chipotle emphasizes continuous learning and teamwork so that Kitchen Leaders are not only managing tasks but also cultivating an environment of collaboration and mutual respect.
Compensation for this role ranges from $21.25 to $23.65 per hour, complemented by eligibility for digital tips and a comprehensive benefits package. Employees can expect to work in a fast-paced, engaging environment where every day brings new opportunities to learn and contribute. Benefits include tuition assistance for select degrees, free food, medical, dental, and vision insurance, paid time off, holiday closures, competitive pay, and opportunities for advancement — with many managers having started as crew members. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about food, leadership, and growth within a purpose-driven organization.
