Job Description
Chipotle Mexican Grill, Inc. (NYSE: CMG) is a renowned fast-casual restaurant chain that specializes in serving responsibly sourced, classically cooked, real food with wholesome ingredients, free of artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives. Established as an industry leader and innovator, Chipotle operates restaurants across the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, and Germany. What sets Chipotle apart is its commitment to owning and operating all its locations in North America and Europe, ensuring quality and consistency in every dining experience. Chipotle is driven by a mission to cultivate a better world by rethinking fast food standards, emphasizing sustainability, digital innovation, and superior guest experiences.
At Chipotle, the focus is not only on delivering delicious and fast food but also on promoting ethical, sustainable farming and food practices. The company’s Food With Integrity philosophy guides every decision—from ingredient sourcing to employee training—aiming to make better food accessible to everyone. Chipotle fosters a diverse and inclusive workplace culture, where world-class individuals come together to contribute to a shared purpose that goes beyond just food.
The role of Kitchen Leader at Chipotle Mexican Grill is an exciting and pivotal position within the operational framework of each restaurant. As a Kitchen Leader, you will be integral to the preparation of high-quality delicious food, mastering the skills of grilling meats, sautéing vegetables, and ensuring food is cooked perfectly to order. This role demands a strong responsibility for food quality, kitchen cleanliness, organization, and safety. You will also be entrusted with inventory management, food waste monitoring, and equipment maintenance to ensure clean, safe, and efficient kitchen operations.
More than a kitchen manager, the Kitchen Leader acts as a role model and mentor for crew members. You will play a key role in training and developing team members into future Kitchen Leaders, fostering leadership within the crew and contributing to a positive team dynamic between the back-of-house and front-of-house staff. This continuous mentorship aligns with Chipotle’s dedication to career advancement and internal promotions, where a large percentage of managers have risen through the ranks starting as crew members.
Daily, you will be actively engaged on your feet, accomplishing station goals, taking initiative to handle tasks proactively, and collaborating closely with your teammates. Strong communication skills are essential, as your role involves coordinating effectively with both crew members and customers to ensure an outstanding dining experience. In addition to operational duties, you will be required to complete important safety documentation such as Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and ensure adherence to inventory rotation policies (FIFO).
Working at Chipotle offers a comprehensive benefits package, including tuition assistance that covers 100% of select degrees or up to $5,250 per year, free meals during shifts, medical, dental, and vision insurance plans, digital tips, paid time off, holiday closures, competitive compensation, and ample opportunities for career advancement. The company’s culture prioritizes diversity, equity, and inclusion in every aspect, making it an enriching environment for those passionate about great food and meaningful work.
This position is an excellent opportunity for individuals with previous restaurant experience and a high school diploma who are eager to grow within a company that values integrity, sustainability, and community impact. By joining Chipotle as a Kitchen Leader, you contribute not only to preparing exceptional food but also to shaping the future of responsible fast food industry practices.
