The Kitchen Leader is responsible for the daily management of kitchen operations. This includes ensuring the kitchen remains clean, organized, and well-stocked, as well as overseeing the maintenance and functionality of kitchen equipment. Safety is paramount, requiring the Kitchen Leader to enforce hygiene standards and workplace safety guidelines to prevent injuries or accidents. Additionally, monitoring food waste, inventory levels, and quality issues are key components of the role, requiring proactive problem-solving to maintain efficiency and uphold Chipotle’s commitment to sustainability.

Job Duties

  • Ensure food quality by cooking and prepping food to order and following kitchen procedures
  • Monitor food waste and inventory levels and resolve food quality issues
  • Support a strong team dynamic between back of house crew and front of house crew
  • Develop crew members to be future kitchen leaders
  • Communicate with crew members and customers effectively to ensure great customer service and throughput
  • Ensure the kitchen is properly cleaned and sanitized
  • Monitor kitchen equipment and ensure it is kept in good repair and arrange for repairs promptly
  • Ensure that the kitchen itself and all crew members meet necessary guidelines to prevent injuries or accidents
  • Fill out Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and Inventory Rotation (FIFO)
