Job Description
Chipotle Mexican Grill, Inc. is a globally recognized fast-casual restaurant chain known for its commitment to serving responsibly sourced, classically cooked, and real food made with wholesome ingredients without artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives. Founded with a mission to cultivate a better world, Chipotle has successfully differentiated itself from typical fast-food experiences by focusing not only on fast service but also on food quality, sustainability, and ethical sourcing. With locations across the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, and Germany, Chipotle is unique in its ownership and operation of all its restaurants across North America and Europe. The company continuously leads innovations in digital technology and sustainable business practices, reflecting a strong dedication to environmental responsibility and community support.
At Chipotle, the Kitchen Leader plays a vital role in maintaining this standard of excellence. As a Kitchen Leader, you are entrusted with learning how to prepare the company’s signature foods, including grilling meats and sautéing vegetables to perfection. The role emphasizes food safety, quality control, and operational efficiency within a high-energy kitchen environment. Beyond cooking, the Kitchen Leader importantly acts as a mentor and trainer for crew members, shaping the next generation of leaders within the kitchen and fostering a strong, supportive team culture. This position is essential to ensuring that every dish served lives up to Chipotle's Food With Integrity philosophy and customers have an outstanding dining experience.
The Kitchen Leader is responsible for the daily management of kitchen operations. This includes ensuring the kitchen remains clean, organized, and well-stocked, as well as overseeing the maintenance and functionality of kitchen equipment. Safety is paramount, requiring the Kitchen Leader to enforce hygiene standards and workplace safety guidelines to prevent injuries or accidents. Additionally, monitoring food waste, inventory levels, and quality issues are key components of the role, requiring proactive problem-solving to maintain efficiency and uphold Chipotle’s commitment to sustainability.
Chipotle values teamwork highly, and the Kitchen Leader facilitates strong cooperation between back-of-house and front-of-house crew members. Effective communication skills are vital to coordinate efforts and deliver excellent customer service. The role demands physical stamina as Kitchen Leaders are constantly on their feet, executing their station's tasks while supporting their teammates and contributing wherever needed. Chipotle also champions employee growth, offering educational benefits such as tuition assistance and opportunities for advancement, with 80% of managers having started as crew members.
This is a full-time, hourly position offering competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, and vision insurance, paid time off, holiday closures, digital tips, and free meals during shifts. As an equal opportunity employer, Chipotle fosters diversity, equity, and inclusion, welcoming applicants from all backgrounds and ensuring accommodations for individuals with disabilities throughout the hiring process.
Joining Chipotle as a Kitchen Leader means becoming part of a forward-thinking company that is changing the fast-food landscape by putting ethical food sourcing, quality preparation, and employee development at the core of its values. If you are passionate about food, leadership, and making a positive impact in the community and industry, this role provides a unique opportunity to grow and contribute meaningfully in a dynamic and supportive environment.
