Job Description
Chipotle Mexican Grill, Inc. is a global leader in the fast-casual restaurant industry, renowned for its commitment to serving responsibly sourced, classically cooked, real food made from wholesome ingredients without artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives. Founded with the mission to cultivate a better world, Chipotle is more than just a restaurant—it’s a movement that is transforming the traditional fast-food experience into something better, healthier, and more sustainable. Operating across the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, and Germany, Chipotle stands out as the only restaurant chain of its size to own and operate all its restaurants in North America and Europe. The company prides itself on its world-class team that is passionate about delivering exceptional guest experiences, leading the way in digital innovation, technology, and sustainable business practices. Chipotle’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion shapes its hiring practices and fosters a welcoming culture for all employees, making it a great place to build a career.
The role of Kitchen Leader at Chipotle is a unique and dynamic position that goes beyond just managing food preparation. This role is vital in ensuring the quality and safety of the restaurant’s food while also fostering a collaborative environment that supports teamwork and excellent customer service. As a Kitchen Leader, you will gain hands-on experience learning how to prepare high-quality food, including grilling meats and sautéing vegetables, all while adhering to Chipotle’s Food With Integrity philosophy. You will be responsible for making sure the food served is delicious and meets the company’s high standards. This role includes ordering food supplies, maintaining kitchen cleanliness, monitoring equipment maintenance, and training crew members to become future Kitchen Leaders.
A key part of the Kitchen Leader’s responsibilities is to act as a role model and mentor for other crew members. This includes teaching and developing kitchen skills, encouraging teamwork between front and back-of-house staff, and ensuring effective communication to enhance the overall customer experience. The position requires being proactive, taking initiative to complete tasks, and working efficiently while on your feet during shifts. The Kitchen Leader also plays an important role in ensuring safety standards are met to prevent accidents or injuries in the kitchen.
Chipotle offers competitive compensation for this role, with a base pay range of $21.25 to $23.65 per hour, plus eligibility for digital tips. The company also provides a comprehensive benefits package designed to support employee wellness and growth, including 100% tuition assistance for select degrees or up to $5,250 per year, free food, medical, dental, and vision insurance, paid time off, holiday closures, and opportunities for advancement. Most managers at Chipotle, about 80%, started their careers as crew members, making this an excellent opportunity for career development within a rapidly growing company.
